I just got out of the Hospital for Statin related Rhabdo. My knees are bone on bone now and I lost the use of my right arm. I had no idea why I felt so bad, but it got worse. They don't make pain killers strong enough for all of the pain I am in. My C/K is still 273 and i am on a Vegan diet, so basically life sucks. Anyone know of something that helps speed up recovery? I feel handicapped and I was fine before I took a 30 day supply of Simvastatin. Changed my life bigtime. Tom

I am going to be incredibly honest with you. I had Rhabdo and I was also taking small amounts of Ritalin, but my Doctor had given me a 30 day supply of Simvastatin. If you google Simvastatin, Rhabdo comes up in the same box.I have read that Ritalin can be a trigger, Statins are definately a CAUSE. I am about 7 weeks since I was in the Hospital and I honestly don't think that i will fully recover. I also lost the use of my right arm.I am 6 feet tall, 190lbs, so it wasn't being overweight and my cholesterol was 230 just like it has been from age 18-57. I am so mad at that Doctor. She basically ruined my life. Now I have to get both knees replaced as well. I really hope that my arm comes back, but I don't think that it will. Eat dinner left handed tonight and think of me! Tom

I am right there with you and I don't think that it ever stops. I don't want to bring you down, but i am dealing with the pain and i lost the use of my right arm. Both of my knees are bone on bone also. I have a hard time getting going in the morning and by morning, I mean noon. I am about six weeks out of the Hospital and would appreciate it if you read this, let me know if you got any better. I feel hopeless and helpless.

I woke up one morning and could not remember my alarm code to my house. A couple of hours later I felt so bad and I called 911. In the Ambulance my BP was 80/30, pulse was 31, I called my Wife and asked her the code and left the front door open and collapsed on the floor. When I was in the Hospital, I felt like I was stuck in the movie Vanilla Sky. The first 3 nights my mind took me places that I didn't know existed. I was in a private suite and I didn't think that I would ever leave that room and thought that everyone was lieing to me about my condition. It was horrible.

So sorry to hear about your leg pain. I have had 3 boudts of Rhabdo and it took until the 3rd time to be diagnosed. The first time it happened was about 3yrs ago and to this day I have muscle pain in my right leg during workouts and random swelling of the leg. Just coming out of my latest Rhabdo I was recommended to see a Rheumatologist. I'm hoping to find some answers and relief there

I too was hospitalized for a week after taking a 45 minute spin class. My CK levels were over 65,000 when I was admitted and increased to over 72,000 while I was in the hospital. I saw a kidney specialist, neurologist, and muscle specialist while I was in the hospital. None of which ever saw CK levels that high and took so long to decrease. This was all on December/January, still to this day I experience leg pain.

Today is August 16, 2017. I just read your story and God Bless You. I had Rhabdo In April of this year induced by Simvastatin. I had no reason to be taking this medication except I had a new Primary care Doctor that must be paid by Big Pharma. I had no idea what was going on with me and it started April 25th and I fought it until I collapsed on May 4th as I was dialing 911. Yes it affected my brain too, I lost the use of my right arm and both of my knees were affected. My hands are numb and i am still very weak. My roommate has Thyroid problems and works out in the heat in Houston, Texas. I told her that was a red flag for her and to be careful. I hope that you are doing better and I am trying to get better. I still have my walker.......

Hi! I've been suffering this myself for 2 years now. Had a few relapses too. Did your muscle biopsy say anything useful? Are you feeling better?

Best regards

I got rhabdo for an hour at spin class also, that was back in 2014. My doctor told me I'm at risk to get it again with less effort, but that was about it. I've been fine since. Trained for a half marathon in summer with no issues, even with HIIT and more spin class. I was VERY careful to learn proper form and not mess myself up again.

I had rhabdo about 4 months ago...It started with a workout that I did in the gym on a Monday that included a 4-part superset of various leg exercises. They alternated between a weighted leg exercise and then a cardio-type leg exercise...all designed for a total leg burnout. The rest of the week I worked out on the beach but it really wasn't too intense because I was so sore from my Monday workout. On Saturday I went to a Mexican restaurant and had a margarita only to then pass out 3 times at the table. Every time I would sit up from passing out, I would then pass out again. Finally my family got my out of there and I cooled off in the AC of the car. I went home and the next day I felt like something was really wrong. I was trembling, my urine was brown, my heart was racing, and I was a total mess. I drove myself to the hospital and when they took my pulse, my heart jumped to 165. To make a much longer story short, I spent two days in the hospital with a case of rhabdo. They gave me multiple bags of IV fluid and told me to rest. I was having severe muscle pains then, and still struggle with muscle pain now. I took a long break from the gym and just started back last week. I have been trying to go light by doing some spinning and resistance band work. My problem is that I am having similar feelings to when I first got rhabdo...shaky, dehydrated, darker urine... I have been drinking fluids like crazy, but am curious why I am feeling this?
