How did you know how high your ck levels were once you started working out again? Did you go to the doctor afterwards?
I was diagnosed with rhabdo April 2015 after the flu and not enough fluids. I was hospitalized for a month. It's now been a year my legs have not went back to normal back pain is now apart of everyday life and had to go back twice since then for rising CPK levels from just getting sick. It seems it's something that latches on forever
I recently had rhabdomyolysis back in may of 2017. I woke up and felt drunk couldn't speak and was falling over the paramedics said my blood pressure was bottoming out and was going to die. Was taken to the ER and they ta every test known to man. Meanwhile I was in so much pain it felt like my muscles wet eating themselves alive it affected my legs esp my calf muscle. But I couldn't speak so they had no idea I was in so much pain. Finally when i was stabilized and able to speak I spiked a fever of 104 and a nephrologist(kidney doctor) overheard the other 5 specialists working on my case and he asked if they ran a cpk level. When it came back it was well over 100,000 and my body was about to go into shock. But I fought through it for 2 weeks in the hospital. I still have severe pain and loss of feeling in my lower extremities I know it makes no sense but it's the worst pain ever and to this day I'm still dealing with it and I'm actually about to go to the er right now bc it feels like it's coming back and this first time they have no idea how I got it. The only thing they could say is that i had a WBC count off the charts bc I had pneumonia starting that I didn't know about. And now I have had pneumonia for over a week and on/off fever went to the er s few days ago and cpk was wnl but now I feel like i did back in may. Bc my legs hurt so bad and my muscles are cramping up and feel like they are eating each other.
I also have been taking gabapentin 800mg 3 times a day for nerve damage and seizures but pain meds are the only thing that takes the pain away but that is only if your liver and kidney levels are fine.
Did they do a blood culture to rule out sepsis? Lactic acid?
I was released from the hospital. Looking for info on rhabdo. How are you feeling now? I’m a nurse and am still having difficulties finding answers for healing.
I just got out the hospital my body twitch so bad
I had same issues except I wanna working ina boiler room 130 degrees for 4 hours then on a hot roof . Worked my day of 8 got home later that night almost died literally. 2 years later my left leg is in some bad shape no strength
Any word back from Mayo Clinic?
RODELL
I first had Rhabdo in October 2014 while in the army. I was forced to do 69 pull ups, when I said I couldn't go no more they made me keep going. I was hospitalized for a week. I have since had it come back 7 times, today being the 7th time. All the doctors were alarmed when I told them what my cpk level was before labs even came back. I've had it enough to know my body. I have very limited use of both my arms now. I will go back to the hospital tommorow for more labs to try to see why it keeps reoccurring so much.

What medications, if any do you take? Have you been dehydrated? Have you ever been evaluated for a metabolic or mitochondrial disease?
Hi all. I had a severe case of rhabdo over 2 years ago. Ck levels 180,000 and an 8 day hospital stay on 300ml/hr ringer's solution IV. Almost died or so they told me once I was in the clear. They couldn't figure out how I'd done this to myself and kept asking if I used cocaine lol. I'd previously been highly trained doing CrossFit 3x a week for 7 years and boxing another 2-3 times a week. I injured my back and was detrained for about 8 months. Upon returning to my workouts I tried to scale back but apparently not enough. Anyway, I've found the medical community to know very very little about the condition, especially it's long term effects on the body. 2 years later my body isn't what it was. A light workout will cause me 3 to 5 days of soreness and my strength isn't near what it was. Has anyone else experience this post-trauma?
My dad is experiencing the same. Did you learn anything helpful?
I had rhabdo over a year ago, and I thought I was going crazy, but it helps to see other people are still experiencing muscle weakness. After an hour of yoga, I'm sore for a week straight and have trouble walking. I feel like I can't find answers anywhere either, and I feel super weak and fatigued.
I'm currently laying in bed at the hospital! I'm terrified to death! I'm actually an RN, and I've taken care of patients suffering from rhabdo! Close to 3 weeks ago, my dr had told me to start losing weight before my pre-diabetes got out of control. Well for the first week I started walking, then next thing I know my friend is begging me to join her in a cycle class! I ended up going feeling motivated, I literally sat there cycling for an hour on the lowest resistance setting while the rest of the class was cycling like crazy! Two days later I literally couldn't walk without screaming every time I would take a step, I literally drove myself to the urgent care after it took me about 30 mins to get myself off the seat of the toilet! It was very painful mostly on my thighs! I was turned away from the urgency care from the PA after he suspected rhabdo and told me that the tests I required were emergent so I needed to go to the ER! I felt silly checking in at the ER because the triage nurse was making snide comments about me being turned away from the urgent due to possibly being rhabdo. She made me feel as if I was overreacting but the pain was so intense. I wasn't having the classic Coca Cola colored urine, but sure enough my myoglobin and ck levels were extremely high! My creatinine was within normal range. I was admitted immediately! Hydration therapy was initiated and it wasn't until a day later that I'm assuming due to my kidneys being forced to flush did I present with the Coca Cola colored urine. I still have some pain, mostly soreness. My left leg has swelled up.....I'm terrified to walk, let alone exercise. I lay in bed just move my ankles around and massage my thighs. Pain medication is ineffective so I've opted not to take anything. Morohine only took the edge off a little bit like I said my pain is still there! The little things we take for granted! My main issue was trying to sit on the toilet without screaming in pain....now I'm able to sit down without having to hold on to the door frame or shower rail. I'm trying to remain positive, but just reading everyone's story scares me!!
