I was just reading an article that discussed how you can lose lots of weight in one week, using a juice fasting diet. Of course this article was all in favour of the juice fasting, because it was part of a website trying to sell the diet. Perhaps this is a more unbiased place to turn to for advice about losing weight in a week? What do you think is a reasonable amount, and how do you think it should be done? Are juice fasts really the way to go?

You ask if juice fasts are any good? Well, my answer is that, for me, a juice fast was a really good start. Two years ago, I was extremely obese. Think 130 kilos. I am not joking. When a work colleague told me that he had lost a lot of weight using a juice fast, and that he would be willing to do it again, together with me, if that motivated me, I caved and decided to give the juice fast a chance. It was a horrible experience. The juice fast bottles were delivered to my house every morning from a juice bar that mixes up the juice fast bottles. They were half a litre each. I can't remember how many bottles there were in a day. The point was that you were not allowed to eat anything else. You know what, the actual juice contained all kinds of detox ingredients and it was disgusting. I wanted to quit so many times. But because me colleague was also doing the diet, all for me, I kept going. The juice fast lasted one week. You bet, it was a loooooong week! I lost 15 kilos, and that was just the start I needed to get serious about losing more weight, and living a healthier life. Now, I am at 90 kilos, and I regularly exercise and stopped eating foods that were bad for me. I feel great!
