Yep, the achy Lungs. I have them too. I went to my doctor, she checked me for signs of lung cancer and found none. But we still don't know what this is all about. I am thinking about going back to ask for chest x ray, just to be certain. My lungs have been aching about 5 months into my quit, and I'm so tired of it. Tired of not feeling normal. Quitting was worth it, but goodness I wish I had known what I was in for. I thought 5 months post quit I'd be home free, but not so much. I don't want to smoke, it is just the physical discomfort that comes a long with an apparently long healing process for some of us.

You are not alone. I still have chest tightness, little aching feeling and shortness of breath in my lungs on and off after I quit smoking 7 months ago. I had seen my doc and checked with X-Ray, doc said my lungs were clear with no serious problems. It takes longer time than we thought to heal our lungs after so many years of smoking damage to our lungs, I guess. I do feel much better than few months ago when suffered lots of withdrawal symptoms and I believe you will get easier too.
Keep it up, and don't smoke again! Keep updated.

I'm 33 and smoked on and off for 15 years or so. I quit cold turkey over a month ago and still have the throat lump. No other symptoms except coughing up the expected stuff. I suspect the throat is being aggravated by the phlegm, which is probably laced with residual tar and other smoking chemicals. Hopefully it goes away soon.
Best of luck to all.
Best of luck to all.

Hi. its great to read all this stuff. I quit smoking some 1 month back and ever sincwe the I've been having throat problems and have often falling ill.
Even I have this problem of feeling a lumkp in my throat. It seems that there is somre swelling on my right tonsills and it keeps touching my tongue, highly irritating me.
Even I was afraid that this could be something serious. Thanks for sharing the information and making me feel comfortable.

I'm having burning and stinging in throat and chest after going a while without smoking and coughing up thick white stuff. When will it stop? Will I be ok soon?
