That 's not true. You absorb the smoke and it gets into your blood stream. Blood circulates throughout the body. It would make it into your stomach via your blood.

Hello all

About a couple of months ago I started to throw up every time i would drink. I wasn't throwing up due to the amount, but i was throwing up because my stomach wasn't accepting the alcohol. I thought at first it was just jagr as i drank jagr 3 nights in a row and viscously threw up those nights. I started to avoid yeast, but soon realized that it was much more than just yeast. I didn't drink for awhile after those 3 nights where i threw up, but the next time i did i was in some serious pain. I attempted to do a bar crawl this summer and at the first bar i was already sitting in a corner by myself with my head down waiting for my girlfriend to realize that i wasn't okay and that we needed to leave. I was nauseas and my stomach felt like I was being stabbed. When I got back to my condo I started to research possibilities. I smoke weed every day multiple times a day. Ive invested more than 5k into bongs (which I'm not proud of) so smoking is definitely a daily ritual of mine. I wake up, go to the gym, and grab a bite to eat on the way home and once I'm home, its time to let it rip. Ive been doing this for about 6 years now. I suffer from manic depression (bipolar) and adhd, so I've used marijuana to help with the comedowns from my adderall, and use marijuana as a sleep drug. Im also prescribed xanax and klonopin, but find those too much of a knock out punch. Its crazy that I use an "illegal" drug rather than the drugs I'm prescribed, right?! Just goes to show that marijuana is only not legalized because of the cigarette makers and their tax dollars, but lets not get off topic.
My chiropractor is one of the smartest guys I've met, and he's diagnosed me better than my god damn GI doctor did. I thought that I had candida aplicans or whatever that fungus is that grows in your stomach because i thought my symptoms started due to my weed brownies (still haven't completely ruled this out). The doctor told me my symptoms didn't align with candida, and that he thought I just had an ulcer. He prescribed me dexilent, which helped but at the same time knocked me out so strong (and it said to take it in the morning.. yeah right) I thought the medicine was really working and i was making progress. Granted I wasn't leaving my bed because I didn't want to do anything to aggravate the ulcer, I started to feel 100% again. The fatigue feeling that i had went away and i could finally be active without losing my breathe after standing up. I stopped taking the medicine and just steered clear from alcohol until about last week. I was an id**t and took some shots at the bar. Had no initial impact on me and felt fine. was so happy that it was gone... until two days later when i was playing basketball and a freight train hit me. back to ground zero.... seriously FML. My girlfriends formal is in two months, new years in five months, and the recovery time.... 5 months.. no alcohol. I'm 22. mine as well lock me in my bedroom because this is hell. On top of no alcohol, no spicy foods. Yeah, I know you've read that article about the kid who ate chipotle 100 days straight, I'm not him but thats my life story. Burrito bowl for lunch, burrito bowl for dinner. EXTRA SALSA. no more for me. its been two months.. talk about torture. So now Im back to living this boring lifestyle, and today I asked my chiro if i should be taking my medicine. his response got me really thinking about how weed can effect ulcers.

-He said my medicine will have an adverse affect because its stopping the production of acid in my stomach. yeah its helping my stomach recover, but its not letting my stomach learn how to handle the acid. He said that once I go off the medicine, my ulcer will come right back. So you're asking how this has anything to do with marijuana? well marijuana lowers the acid production in your stomach. If i have been smoking a lot for a while, maybe I have conditioned my stomach to be used to low amounts, and in that case i will need to be on that medication forever or just smoke pot forever, which was initially planned anyways =]. Im going to run it by my chiropractor next time i see him because i haven't had the balls to straight up tell him I'm a huge pot head haha. But when it comes to possibly not being able to drink alcohol due to the amount of weed i smoke, then i will need to seriously address this and potentially take a tolerance break LOL yeah right but maybe.

My friends dad is a chronic smoker and he has the same problems. He has been in and out of different hospitals and seen a lot of doctors and was finally diagnosed with cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome, you should look into it

I have had gastro-intestinal problems too for two years after being a heavy pot smoker for seven years. I know it had to do with more lifestyle than just smoking. But if you are having problems with the tract, you're going to need to quit smoking in order to heal.

It's not that it necessarily caused it but smoking in general takes a toll on the body. It makes the body pH more acidic. Mainstream medicine states that smoking increases the risk of GI problems or cancers of the tract. It's not an issue about swallowing the smoke vs inhaling or tobacco vs pot, the body is not supposed to be subjected to smoke on a regular basis!

Acknowledge the elephant in the room and get your gut back in good health. Quit smoking, start drinking bone broth everyday from pastured raised animals, cut out caffeine and alcohol and get that body pH back to a healthier alkaline state. Get all that c**p food out of your diet. Listen to your gut, literally, you know what needs to be done. If the GI tract isn't healthy, then it becomes a host of serious problems throughout your body. Maybe one day you can start ingesting pot in food form. Take care of yourself. If your friends and girlfriend loves you, then they will want you to be healthy.

I have been smoking ganja for 13 years daily. The only symptoms and issues I have are ones I've had since childhood. With all of the chemicals and poisons in our foods, of course people have odd symptoms. And alcohol can cause pains, ulcers, etc and the effects can last years past the drinking habit. I drank for years and it thrashed my stomach. Cannabis is the only natural med that helps.

This makes sense. It may also be related to anxiety.

Hi I have been smoking for a little over a year and I have started the last months experiencing more gastrointestinal problems. Pain nausea vomiting and upper stomach pain. I have been to 4 different GI Drs and ALL my tests have come back normal. I think it might be the pot. I am quitting today 9/7/15 to see if this will stop the pain. Your post really helped, did you stop? And did that help your problems?

After smoking weed for over half my life everyday and having my lungs and chest feel congested, tight and phlegmy, I did a one month no pot challenge. it was really hard the first 3 days, but I got through it. After that first smoke, I was addicted again. Then my lungs started causing me issues again and I had to stop smoking everyday. After a year of trying this balancing, I'm now going on to my first 5 weeks of not smoking, and I'm wondering why I ever smoked in the first place, I don't even like how it makes me feel... If you're looking for a change, or for something new, try the natural high, there's really nothing better! And on top of it all, it doesn't wear off...

I was super addicted to pot for about 17 years but after the side effects I had no choice but to cut it out. I started out with a one month no pot challenge. The first few days were hard but after you get through it, it gets easier and easier. Im realizing when I start again I want to keep smoking, so im trying abstinence. 5 weeks straight so far, and I'm wondering why I even bother smoking it just for a moment of floating... then what??!!?? Feels good to have my power back.
