Absolutely! Marijuana intesifies the over all feeling you have from your surroundings! But, it also depends on the strain as well. Some strains can produce an overall good feeling, while others can put you in an anxious state. If you are taking a medication that defends your body from anxiety, imagine the fight that is going on in your mind. Some people it can bring on paranoia. I would do what you do though, and only smoke in a fun social enviroment.

Before taking Zoloft I used to use cocaine on occasions and drink loads.. I stopped all of that with help from a recovery service, time off work and will power. I then started on Zoloft (previously I took Prozac and that MESSED me up)
It all depends on you and your limits. Anything can be harmful. Alcohol, a big no no. If you are a drinker and you try to stop but encounter a few slips on the way, don't hate yourself for it you teach yourself lessons. I promise you that you will feel amazing even after a few weeks. In my experience, weed hasn't ever caused me trouble especially while on Zoloft. I chose to smoke mainly in the evenings before bed however love a wake and bake when I have days to myself (which is rare) I'd also say once every two weeks id have friends over and pass a few joints around. Alcohol is never involved. There's something obvious there but people chose not to believe. I'd advise anyone to smoke if they're to a point where they are taking anti depressants. However if you're hitting bongs daily and smoking 24/7 will mess you up as it's an addict behaviour and the fact you won't be out there re-building yourself and over long term will turn anyone into a doughnut. Point being, smoke weed, don't drink, plan how you're going to go back into the world and be strong again. Getting high before bed for me revealed myself to myself. Night night x

Thank you. This is me, to the T. Have been smoking for 14 years and throughout that time period I had one or two Panic attacks a year after smoking. Heart racing, dry mouth, internal dialog at 20000%, profusely sweating, and sometimes I even passed out. Once I fell down stairs and another passed out walking down the hallway in high school. Luckily I got pretty good at telling when they were coming on. For the longest time I thought something was wrong and they just couldn't figure it out.
About a week ago I had a really bad anxiety attack while watching Game of Thrones. This time my vision was blurred and that really freaked me out. For TWO DAYS after I felt like I was stuck in a bad trip. I'm rather experienced in psychedelics and smokin and I'm relatively good at knowing that the high will pass, but those two days were hell. I finally went to the doctor and I tell her I think I'm dying bc my heart had been beating at 100-120 bpm during that time. They take some blood and hook me up to an ekg. All of that ended up being solid. I do hike and exercise quite a bit and I also had quit smoking cigarettes 50ish days before so I didn't get why I felt so shitty.
Anyway I digress, she prescribed me zoloft, an IBS medicine (I'm guessing to counter the stomach pain) and another medicine for anxiety and allergies. I have smoked a few times after starting zoloft and it's definitely a lot different. I am no longer able to enjoy it. It seems like everytime I smoke I end up on the toilet or feeling irritable. Don't get me wrong I want to smoke but I just don't think I can anymore.
If you took the time to read this I hope it was of some help. I just need to get myself right. It's not like it's gonna go anywhere.

If you are going to smoke take it one toke at a time. I would stay away from bongs and dabs to

I smoked every day for years and decided to take a tolerance break around the same time I started taking Zoloft, a week later I smoked for the first time and I had the worst anxiety attack of my whole life. Do not mix Zoloft and weed trust me

I've been smoking weed for the last 18 years daily. Medical grade. I have been on Zoloft for 2 years now. Still smoke daily. Never had an issue with any side effects other than typical cotton mouth, rocking orgasms(now coupled with lasting forever thanks zoloft!), mild paranoia, but having a degree in psychology i usually rationalize myself out of any paranoia. I also can't drink like I did when I was 20.. but not many bearing 40 can.

Guys, maybe some of you have good reasons for smoking weed, but usually weed lowers your ability to think and reason and it can lead to schizophrenia (a severe mental disorder with symptoms such as hallucinations, paranoia, and disorganized thinking). Plus, I've read that it can also cause breathing problems (I've found that very interesting.) I'm not trying to judge any of you, I'm just trying to be useful

BS! Science disagrees.

if this happens, you smoked too much, it has nothing to do with the mixture of drugs, trust me as i've been using 100mg of zoloft a day for more than a year and smoking multiple times a day

Mixing weed and zolof depends on how your highs are when your only smoking, the zolof pretty much just intensifies your high.

A week mentality causes paranoia or any other mental side effects of weed, and this person doesn't smoke it and had a smoke once the effects she didn't like, simply she doesn't know nothing about weed and probably has the personality of an attention seeker these mentalities seem to be affected the worst

try to find pot with low level of THT and high level of CBD
this will make you feel less anxious or paranoic

I take Zoloft for extreme anxiety, so I don't see how a side effect of Zoloft is anxiety

Surprised to see people having such negative reactions, because I was looking it up to see if anybody else found it as great as I did. Guess I'll head over to Erowid.

I have been on Zoloft for 2 years now and I personally do not feel negative affects when smoking weed. I started smoking it a year into the medication and started in very small doses each evening with friends. I felt comfortable, and in control with the small doses and by gradually increasing it, I felt I could adapt to it and track how I felt each time. Every person is going to react differently to marijuana, let alone the concoction of the two. There are a lot of studies against marijuana and a lot of studies pro SSRI's (guess who funds the studies for these- check out the news site vox as I find they have good articles explainingthe "demonization" of marijuana. For myself, I've had times where I smoked and felt extremely paranoid, panicked and not myself but those were only times when I either a.) smoked too much or b.) mixed it with alcohol (both of which I would not personally recommend while on Zoloft). Bottom line I've found is that each person is different and every person will have a different reaction. Some people react fine when smoking weed with Zoloft and others have a harder time with it. If you do want to try it, experiment in small doses, and listen to the signals your body is telling you.

Whatever happens try to stay in a positive mindset.
