It is physically safer than alcohol or cigarettes and if used on occassion in moderation is pretty harmless. However, while it is impossible to overdose, and no one has ever DIRECTLY died from marijuana, those that smoke chronicly over the long-term tend to have more health problems including liver damage, lung diseases, and many other cancers and health problems in general. They also tend to get sick more often and stay sick longer even with simple things such as flu or colds.
It has recently been proven in many studies to suppress the immune system, which may also contribute to the higher numbers of those ill who are chronic smokers.

Bagget,
I have been studying this issue for several years because of of my own extensive use. I have read several dozen reports about marijuana effects on the heart, liver, and lungs. I don't think your problem is from smoking weed. If I could ask you some questions, we would probably find out that, you may be overly sexually active, or physically in-active. There could be a different underlying issue that puts you at risk for the current problem you are having.

But, I willl admit, you will never be 100% sure that it didn't cause your liver damage. Too much of anything is never good for you.

Hi. I`m 21 yo F and have a liver damage. I don`t smoke cigarettes, I don`t drink alcohol, but I smoke marijuana. I think that marijuana is the cause of my liver damage problem. I couldn`t tell my doc about that and wonder does anybody know something about that?

I forgot to mention one other thing. DIET!!! Diet has everything to do with your liver. Poor diet, no exercise, and smoking pot, could be a recipe for disaster. Start eating liver friendly foods, (spinach, broccoli, parsley, dark green veggies, and things with sulfur) eat lots of garlic, (kills almost anything including cancer, it also has sulfur compounds for liver detox process).

if you smoke clean weed with an electric inhaler (herborizer or volcano) it will not do anything to you, on the contrary, weed is known for its beneficial effects on the body.
so please, research yourself before posting conservative alarmist extremist right wing ideology...

Alzheimer's, as of Dec 2007, is uncured. Marijuana is great for delaying the symptoms after an onset of the disease due to its ability to relieve cranial pressure. It may slow down the progression, but does not cure it. Happy smoking - and don't listen to any m***n who says smoking anything doesn't carry a risk.

I reckon the worst side effect from the weed was the paranoia that builds up over time, secondary to that is the apathy (which at least balances the paranoia because you can;t be arsed to do anything about it!) - thirdly the rest of the world is having a good time without you joining in because you are monged out
I have also drunk alcohol (mostly beer) for the last 30 years and now have a screwed liver - so I have to stop the drink (boo hoo - poor me!).
But what really f**ks me off is not having to stop the weed and beer it is sh*t heads who suggest that Coenzyme Q or some vitamins with "antioxidant" effects will stop liver damaga or cancer - they don't.
Just remember - stopping drinking, smoking weed and tobacco and not screwing around won't make you live longer - it will just feel like it.
