Hello(: I have the same thing happening right now, so I decided to do some research on it. It's called a stye. A stye is a bacterial infection affecting the edge of the eyelid or the eye.

Styes aren't normally very serious, as it can be gone in a few days, but if it gets worse than it already is, I suggest you see a doctor.

Some styes form under the eyelid, so it's barely noticeable. But some are visible, and thy hurt a lot more. Try filling an eye drop bottle with water, and dropping it once in your eye daily. It should take down the swelling a bit. Other than that, it's nothing serious :3

I had the same thing and the doctor prescribed chlorsig (not sure if that's the correct spelling) For my sty. You should be able to purchase it from your pharmacist.

Sorry forgot to add that chlorsig is a ointment which you apply inside your eyelid where the sty is located. The first application relieved the pain and has started to bring down the swelling. Hope this helps!!

Warm compress with a wash cloth can help styes heal more quickly. Also, to help prevent styes one can use baby shampoo on the eyelids, this will flush them out.

If the pain is in the corner and lower area of the eye and is swelling than the area that produces tears is probably clogged or infected. This happened to me years ago and just started again tonight.  I'll be going to the doctor for antibiotics in the am.  In the meantime, use hot water on a towel and keep it over your eye, it draws the bacteria out.  Good tip is to boil an egg and wrap it in a towel which you hold to your eye.  The egg will retain heat instead of constantly putting more hot water on a towel. Plus, an egg has the right shape to hold over your eye.  I suggest seeing a doctor, getting an antibiotic, and all will be well.

About 10 days ago i had a sinus infection which moved down to my lungs and stayed there for a few days. Then it kind of re-invaded my sinuses. When i blew my nose i could feel pressure near my cheekbones. About 2 days ago, i noticed some tenderness and bruising on my left cheekbone under the eye and it feels kind of hard when i press it. Also, i have a visible stye on my eyelid. Sinus and chest infection 99% gone.

it is possible it could be a stye but this is not always the case. Usually if it is a stye you will see it with the naked eye.

is it supposed to hurt once you take it off? because it hurts when i take a break from holding it

I have the same pain, however mine isnt in the bottom corner. My pain is bottom centre? it hurts when i blink?

I agree that most of you sound as if it is not a stye, but something deeper. As others have said, hot compresses seem to be the most common treatment.

I'm 16 and I've had the same exact problem as everyone else. It started when I woke up yesterday it felt like a bruise/like I got punched in the face. Today I woke up with it worse. More swelling and hurts more even when I blink. I'm going to the doctors in a couple days but for now I am putting a warm cloth on it periodically. I was wondering if I can put makeup on or around it. I usually put under eye cream and concealer. Would it affect the stye in any way? How about mascara?

There is a solution to this problem. If you put rose water in your swollen eye twice or thrice for better result, it will work. keep washing your eyes with cold water as well. Cucumber juice is also very good for eyes.

My mom works for a medical office and i woke up this morning with this problem and immediatley asked her. She said it is NOT a stye. It is blocked sinuses from makeup. Its under my right eye and theres swelling very tender and slightly yellowish. You must apply COOL compresses to it. Not warm. Its not a solid mass so theres no puss to break up. Apply cool compresses through out the day. And do not wear makeup. If it gets worse go see a doctor to maybe get eye drops or some type of sterroid. They will probably not have to lance it. That is very unlikely. Just practice good hygiene with your eyes!
