Hi Brenna - let me quote from lifetime moms: Mirena Crash is the name people have given to a set of side effects that occur once the IUD is removed. Some people report depression, bloating, the general feeling of the world crashing down on you. The Mirena causes a big change in your body so you have to expect to have a little recovery time after you stop - it's like giving up smoking. It may not be good for you, but the effects of quitting drive some people crazy. Stay away from hormonal pills and IUDs - google Lady-Comp and try natural birth control.... You may be sure that once you start using natural family planning methods, you will discover a new sense of freedom and harmony in your love life and you will come to understand and appreciate your individual fertility pattern like never before...

additionally take also into account that hormonal pills and some other “birth control’ methods like intrauterine device (IUD) very often act as abortifacients – while using them, you can still have “breakthrough ovulation”, which occurs in millions of women each year. You can still conceive a baby, who because of synthetic hormones cannot attach to the uterine lining and dies!
-The pill’s third mechanism is to change the lining of the endometrium (the lining of the womb), which creates a hostile environment for a newly created human being. The tiny baby cannot implant and is spontaneously aborted by the body.

Hello, I had my mirena for almost 2 years and after 6 months of testing for the cause of strange discharge with no results, decided to take it out. The discharge smelled almost metallic. I thought yeast infection first, negative, bacterial vaginosis, dr treated me for that, no relief, cervical swab, std test, all normal. I decided the only culprit had to be the mirena. It only been 6 hours and I feel fine, dr warned me about spotting. Then I searched online. Wow. Reports of the mirena crash everywhere. I am now scared of the crash but clearly my body was telling me something. I hope my strange discharge disappears, even if it's at the expense of a crash.

Can some ladies who DIDN'T experience the crash please offer some comfort?

Dear Deesea Don't worry - once you took this off - everything shoud come back to normal - it is difficult not to say about side-effect of coils (IUD, Mirena) and other hormonal contraception - once they are very invasive to your body. For example: insertion of an IUD carries a risk of bacterial infection of the uterus. A woman's uterus can spontaneously expel either type of IUD. Sometimes the IUD comes out of the uterus completely, but sometimes it just slips. In cases where it slips, a doctor must remove it. When an IUD slips, the woman can get pregnant. Additionally as I mentioned before hormonal pills and some other “birth control’ methods like intrauterine device (IUD) very often act as abortifacients – while using them, a woman still can have “breakthrough ovulation”, what occurs frequently. Unfortunately a woman can still conceive a baby, who because of synthetic hormones cannot attach to the uterine lining and is aborted! The pill’s third mechanism is to change the lining of the endometrium (the lining of the womb), which creates a hostile environment for a newly created human being. The tiny baby cannot implant and is spontaneously aborted by the body - similar mechanism works in case of IUD, like Mirena, etc.... Natural family planning (including fertility monitors or nfp monitors) are very reliable and proven method - witho no side-effects - and I' big fan of it....

I too suffered from severe side effects because of the IUD. First of all, I'm actually only 18, never pregnant so I don't entirely relate to what you went through. Regardless, I did have a very bad reaction to the IUD very quickly. I only had it for exactly one week and had it taken out just yesterday. I know the whole recommendation of keeping it in for at least 6 months is a rational decision, but soon enough I started experiencing mood swings (never have them, usually at the most I would just slightly more inclined to being irritated at things that usually bother me when im pmsing) that were so severe to point where i couldnt control my thought process and emotions. On the other hand i experienced zero sex drive, I lost interest in my boyfriend, which i feel bad for since he had to experience something so unlike me. Everything I said and felt just started to make no sense whatsoever, I hated everyone that didnt agree with me, I took everything too personally. Also, just as fast as having a panic attack after I calm down I became so childlike and unemotional, at that point I thought, "What the hell is happening to me?" And the obvious emotional breakdown where I assumed something trivial was a huge life crisis. Once i had those two panic attacks in one day I realized that I needed to get it out of me fast, i couldnt wait any longer. It took 5 hours at planned parenthood yesterday to wait for them to call me in, have two panic attacks in two different rooms they put me in, talk to the first clnician who thought i had a neurological disorder and that i needed help and was not comfortable taking the iud out, and to finally have it removed. Most definitely after the removal, Almost immediately i began to regain my sanity at the most 50% 3 hours afterwards, and it got gradually better from there. Today I feel at least 75% better now, I do have mild sadness but I blame that on the side effects and the fact that the whole experience was really traumatizing. I felt the need to put my experience out in the open because it is very possible to have such severe reactions so soon. It was scary not being able to control myself and I can assure everyone that im a very logical person, who doesnt let her emotions control everything. It was definitely an entire 180 and my boyfriend can vouch for that. Yesterday I saw him later that night, with the iud removed of course. I was acting normally with my whole smartass and sarastic comments probably tenfold at that point, since I needed to push out my original personality prior to that IUD. He said he really missed me, and it was kind of funny but Idefinitely missed him as well since it really felt like i did not see him at all, but in reality I did see him everyday at that time.. I know and truly believe that the mirena caused all these symptoms because never had I experienced an emotional breakdown (or hormonal) over nothing. It is just absurd and hell no am I going to listen to that stupid clinician who said I needed psychological help because taking meds for something uncertain is just like jumping the gun. But I mean im only 18, but this kind of experience really made me regret the decision to get hormonal birth contraceptives. If anyone also has any questions, I'm open to anything

Dear Nicole - I'm so sorry to hear about your case :-( If I can give you advise for future - stay away from Planned Parenthood - this is an abortion giant, who has no respect for human life (unborn children) and women's health....

They will never tell you for example that:

“Complications arising from the use of the Pill are very frequent. Infertility after its use for 7-15 years is a very serious problem. S crypts are very sensitive to normal and cyclical stimulation by natural oestrogens, and the Pill causes atrophy of these crypts. Fertility is impaired, treatment is difficult. [...] After 3 to 15 months of contraceptive pill use, there is a greater loss of the S crypt cells than can be replaced [...] A pregnancy rejuvenates the cervix by 2-3 years, but for each year the Pill is taken, the cervix ages by an extra year.”
Professor Erik Odeblad, Sweden

Also thay will never tell you that - Hormonal pills and some other “birth control’ methods like intrauterine device (IUD) very often act as abortifacients – while using them, a woman still can have “breakthrough ovulation”, what occurs frequently. Unfortunately a woman can still conceive a baby, who because of synthetic hormones cannot attach to the uterine lining and dies!
-The pill’s third mechanism is to change the lining of the endometrium (the lining of the womb), which creates a hostile environment for a newly created human being. The tiny baby cannot implant and is spontaneously aborted by the body - similar mechanism works in case of IUD, like Mirena, etc. (note from Editor)

Hello I've just had the IUD inserted a few days ago and already I'm experiencing the oder you speak of but not only that every little thing irritates me. Yesterday I went of on just about everyone at work. The least thing makes me blow my top. This is why I'm on this site today, to see if there's anyone else experiencing such symptoms.

Dear Dar24

The symptoms you're experiencing are very common - and you are lucky that you don't have anything worse. The IUD. can cause cramping, haemorrhaging, pelvic inflammation, and in some cases even death - why - because ti is very invasive thing to your body.....

Additionally as I wrote many times:

- Hormonal pills and some other “birth control’ methods like intrauterine device (IUD) very often act as abortifacients – while using them, a woman still can have “breakthrough ovulation”, what occurs frequently. ps. similar mechanism works in case of IUD, like Mirena, etc....

So - if you believe that live starts from the moment of conception - IUD and pills should be 100% avoided by yourself.

"By all the criteria of modern molecular biology, life is present from the moment of conception." - Prof. H. Gordon

There is so many healthy ways of birth control - natural family planning, FAM and - also mentioned many times - Lady-Comp fertility / natural birth control monitor - with a great reliability - higher that IUD in term of effectiveness....I know, because I use Lady-Comp myself.....and are 100% satisfied.....no side-effects at all...

Hi Kimby - yes many, many women had this problem before - and even worse: IUD can cause cramping, haemorrhaging, pelvic inflammation and in some cases even death, the same with the pills....

Additionally - as mentioned before: hormonal pills and some other “birth control’ methods like intrauterine device (IUD) very often act as abortifacients – while using them, a woman still can have “breakthrough ovulation”, what occurs frequently. Unfortunately a woman can still conceive a baby, who because of synthetic hormones cannot attach to the uterine lining and dies!

Go for natural family planning or natural birth control monitors / fertility monitors (Persona Monitor, Lady-Comp, Pearly, etc...)- you can see details in my previous posts....

Take care

Im not sure what type of birth control to use, should I remove the IUD or accept the long dark brown periods? I do not plan on having children. Are the natural birth control monitors reliable?
Reply

Hi Kimby

Definitely remove IUD - not only for that reason - but for potential side-effects and the invasiveness IUD induce...birth control monitors, like Lady-Comp are more effective than IUD - have 99.3% clinically proven reliability - and have no side-effects, are hormones-free and simply works in harmony with your body....just google lady-comp - I use it and are very happy about it, it is not only easy-to use and safe but very, very reliable - if you don't plan having a children - with Lady-Comp for example - you can be sure of that reliability - Lady-Comp already enjoys huge confidence among thousands of health conscious women in USA and Europe....bear in mind that every invasive contraception is invasive to you, your body and your health...and additionally act as abortifacient - not allowing a conceived baby attach to your uterine lining - which consequently means that tiny baby is aborted.......take off IUD, don't take pills - they act the same and even worse for your fertility: Infertility after its use for 7-15 years is a very serious problem. A pregnancy rejuvenates the cervix by 2-3 years, but for each year the Pill is taken, the cervix ages by an extra year - and similarly as IUD they act also as abortifacients for a newly conceived baby.....

Let me know if I can help or advise somehow - you are more than welcome to ask :-)))

Is lady-comp available in Canada and is it expensive?
Reply

Hi Kimby - I'm based in Europe - but I know it is in US and Canada too - the distributor is RaxMedical - and you can google their website. Lady-Comp is not the cheapest one, but this is the initial purchase price of Lady-Comp is more expensive than some other monitors. However, Lady-Comp is superior to many other monitors because it is actually a microcomputer compared to other monitors which may be merely thermometers with memory capabilities. Lady-Comp contains a database of around million cycles which enables it to provide contraceptive safety of 99.3% reliability on green-light days.

Additionally in long term Lady-Comp is cost effective. - why? Once you purchase Lady-Comp, they essentially have a cost-free birth control measure for life. Contrast this with the direct annual financial costs of other birth control methods (and they all have side-effects for health as invasive ones)

The Pill $220
Diaphragm $165
Sponges $125
Spermicide $95
Condoms $50

These are the direct costs of artificial birth control for one year. Over a thirty year span of fertility these costs can mount up to enormous amounts of money. The indirect financial costs can be staggering if medical complications arise as a result of using artificial birth control methods.

So I would say - no Lady-Comp is not expensive in comparison to other contraception - I know that there is also budget version of Lady-Comp - pocket size version with the same effetiveness is around 300 USD - and also can be paid with payment plan....I have Baby-Comp - it is a vesion, which has dual purpose: pregancy planning and prevention :-) Definitely go for Lady-Comp - you will love it - see how natural and easy it is :-) and you be healthy also, and with conscious that also you never aborted your baby......like in the pill or IUD case.....

Let me know if you have any questions - and let me know when you buy Lady-Comp - I'm curious about your experience - for sure will be positive :-)
