I had my mirena iud removed on July 12 and was pregnant shortly there after. Now I am almost 6 weeks. I started spotting at 4 weeks and have progressed into an all out period. I went to the emergency room yesterday and they couldn't find the baby in my uterus. I have to go back tomorrow for more blood work and another ultrasound. Can you bleed and still have a normal pregnancy? Can you miscarry with no cramping?

Hi Guest,

Yes, many women bleed early in your pregnancy but it doesn't usually resemble a period.  It would normally be much lighter.

You can also miscarry and it may appear as just a heavy period.  Miscarriages are very common early in pregnancy, more so than most women realize.

Good luck on the ultrasound.
