Monistat 1 - how long does it take to work? what is normal?

I have had a yeast infection before, but went to the doctor for it.
now that I have one again, I don't have any insurance. I used monistat 1 for it this time. I am curious just how do I know its working?
my pain and itching and swelling have decreased, but I am still having a lot of white clumpy discharge. I still feel that there is a problem down there, but it isn't crippling now. is that normal.
and with the monistat one, (which I won't use again) there came a night of no sleep because it amplified everything by 100!!! itching and burning!!!
so what is normal for a yeast infection when it is clearing up?

Nope. Yeast is a fungus, not a bacteria. Examples of bacterial vaginal infections include chlamydia and gonorrhea, also BV or bacterial vaginosis.

No. It's fungal. Which is why antibiotics, which kill bacteria, tend to cause it.

LOL This was my exact experience. The ovule was horrible going in. I laid in bed and cried because it felt weird. (Virgin as well!)

Best response yet. Thanks!
A yeast infection is not bacterial. It's fungal.
actually it's not, yeast is FUNGAL which is what the medications are - antifungals, similar to what's used for jock itch, athlete's foot, ringworm, etc. Yeast infections (as is often my case) come after having used antibiotics as they kill the "good" bacteria that help keep the yeast at bay.
Mines worked as well still itch when it run out lol but other than that I had no other symptoms
My bump itches too :(
Still no answer to this cuz it just happened to me
Thank you, your experience is like mine, caught it soon and no pain, burn, itch... Everyone is scaring me saying it burned, I was wondering if I did something wrong. Now I'm just waiting for the rest of the medicine to come out, it's like a thick white spider web inside me
I had the same experience exactly. Saw the negative reviews after inserting and waited for the described "hell" that never came. Symptoms slowly relieving and I'm just glad there are some lucky ones who don't have to go through the worsening pain from the meds. I thought maybe it's because my symptoms were already so bad and painful that maybe I was getting used to it and that maybe that's why it wasn't so bad. I used equate brand with 3-day use and Im 7 mon the pregnant. In day 1 a lot of the infection is already coming out in larger clumps. Can't wait to get back to normal.
haha. Thank you for this. Your sense of humor about it cheered me up! Yeast infections SUCK! Yes, I wish we did not have such high-maintenance privates, too. But we are blessed to be women in many ways! =)
That helped me so much thank you!!!!
No, a yeast infection is fungal. Fungus and bacteria are two different things
I am currently in the same situation and it's 5am and I can't sleep because it made all my symptoms much worse. The ovule dissolved and ended up coming oUT but the 45 minutes between the inserting and bed I felt no pain and only slight discomfort. Now I feel like my vagina is on fire. Did it get cleared up for you?
