Monistat 1 - how long does it take to work? what is normal?

I have had a yeast infection before, but went to the doctor for it.
now that I have one again, I don't have any insurance. I used monistat 1 for it this time. I am curious just how do I know its working?
my pain and itching and swelling have decreased, but I am still having a lot of white clumpy discharge. I still feel that there is a problem down there, but it isn't crippling now. is that normal.
and with the monistat one, (which I won't use again) there came a night of no sleep because it amplified everything by 100!!! itching and burning!!!
so what is normal for a yeast infection when it is clearing up?

Nope actually it's fungal.

Actually a yeast infection is FUNGAL. Monistat is an over-the-counter, vaginal antifungal (says so right on the package)

Alright so I just took the Monistat 1 day about 12 hours ago. I feel much better now but until about an hour or two ago I still felt burning. I'm pretty sure that this is because the dosage is so high. Because with the 3 and 7 days I have taken in the past never made me burn. Anyways, this yeast infection I have is pretty bad but not the worst I've had...with that I believe that if you have a bad infection you shouldn't use 1 day since it will cause more burning bc of all the inflammation. If its mild, go for it.. Shouldn't burn. But for strong infections I would say go with the 3 day. I will most likely do that next time since I have felt uncomfortable ad worried all day. 1 day does work...just may be uncomfortable for a day while it's working.
If you have a high pain tollerance then the one day pack is for you. If not do the 3 day or 7 day one. Back pain, head ache, nausea, hurts to pee, and pink discharge. Side effects aside the product works and feeling a lot better 24 hours after
I seem to be yeast infection prone and have used monistat-1 three times now. My first 2 experiences were a breeze my yeast infection was completely gone within a week. If i experienced any itching at all i would use the cream that came in the box to cure that issue. I did have to wear a pad or liner to keep things clean because when using monistat it tends to come out in a creamy discharge, which is just the product working its magic. Now the last time I used monistat-1 i used it about a week and a half after using monistat-3....simply because i bought the wrong one initially. Monistat-3 comes with 3 pills to be inserted in the vaginal in 3 consecutive days; I had taken one and then a few days later taken the other two back to back. Now you can imagine that this was not successful in curing my YI. So i called that pharmacist and asked her if i would be able to take monistat-1 because it has been a week since i last treated myself but i was still experiencing YI symptoms. She said it was no problem, so i purchased Monistat- 1 and for the first time i am experiencing bright red spotting. I was starting to worry about what it could be but after reading some reviews i realize that i am not the only one! I'm hoping my period is not coming early and that the spotting will stop. We will see how it goes.
If it hurts when you pee, you have a bladder infection. If its curdy and there is a smell, go to your Dr. because you have a yeast infection, and there are apparently a few different strains of yeast. Your Dr can inform you what you need to take for w/e your problem is. If your discharge is brownish or dark colored, it can mean you have torn a little. (during sex or self pleasure.) or if neither of those are the cases go to your Dr.
After taking antibiotics for a UTI and being promised by the doctor that I would not get a yeast infection, I did. I thought it was pad rash for my entire period (it only itched and I couldn't tell if there was discharge or not due to the blood) so I didn't wind up treating it until I was sure it was a YI on day 7. Terrible I know but it's my first and I didn't want to medicate if I didn't have to.
So I used the Monistat 1 this morning and got instant relief from the cream. The pill felt fine until about a half hour later when I had period-like back cramps. I did have the goopy discharge but a panty liner took care of that. After the cramps subsided it started burning but no itch, I believe the discharge is what stung. That went away when I switched pads and didn't come back. Right now I feel almost 100% better - very little itch and no discharge, burning, or cramps. I'm very pleased with the simplicity of it and the lack of severe symptoms. I didn't even have to use the itch cream a second time today. My skin is totally intact I haven't scratched since day one of the symptoms even though it's been insane. Maybe the broken skin is what makes it burn so bad? The bad reviews are discouraging but I feel so much better. Good luck to everyone!
Yes it is
Yeast is not bacteria and the infections are treated differently. Yeasi is treated with antifungal, bacteria with antibiotics.
yes it does! lol
I got a yeast infection a few days ago and decided to opt for the M1 treatment. I inserted the ovule yesturday at about 6pm. Everything seemed fine until I woke up this morning. The itching and burning are severe and Im in fear of loseing my sanity because of this. I wish I had read the reviews on this product prior to using it. More women then not have had negative expieriences with this medication and it makes me question if it should even be allowed on the shelves. I've always used the 3-7 day treatments and never expierienced this before. Apparently you can get chemical burns from this medication because of the high dosage of the active ingredient. I will NEVER use this again. Some women have had good expierience with the medication, but why risk it? It's not worth it.
yeast is fungal not bacterial
I noticed white clumpy odorless discharge with a slight irritating itch and immediately knew it was a yeast infection. It had my VuhJayJay so dry it hurt to even touch it!The second day the itching was getting on my nerves so I decided to try Monistat 1 because I wanted the symptoms gone in 1 day. I applied the topical cream that relieves the itching and irritation. I messed up when putting the pill in because I was so dry it hurt to stick it inside, so the pill ended up being stuck near my clit (sorry if this is TMI) By the time I was able to reattach it and insert it inside, it was a messy glob. Today I am at work sitting at my desk and it feels so much better. No more itching, or irritation. There is a slight, very slight can barely feel burn on my clit where the pill got stuck, but it's not discomforting, I can just feel it. I am happy I went with the 1 day. I guess it only works for some like most things. I had a bacterial infection once and that was absolutely painful.Honestly, I rather have a yeast infection than a bacterial infection. For those who say Monistat didnt work for them, try going to CVS Pharmacy and theres a treatment (Bacterial-something) where you insert about 7 hard pills inside the vagina. It cleared my bacterial infection up in about a week, maybe 5 days. That may work better versus the Monistat.
