I get mucus down my throat, especially at night. This has been going on for quite a long time.I have a packet of Tunes on my bedside table and suck one of these if I can not clear my throat. It really helps. Give it a try.
I also have mucus in my throat. It began since I got a bad cold or maybe was an allergy. I do not know if I have allergy. Anyway, I just wanted to say if anyone have lived in another country and it had this problem or just happen when in USA. I live currently in Chicago. I have lived in many different countries. And I do not know if it just a coincidence but happened just when I moved to the USA. I live in Chicago for 2 years and since I got a bad cold started this problem. Usually when i get cold, just one side of my nose run and as well one side of my eyes tear but usually switches to the other side. However my last cold it did not switches. I do not know if could be the onset of my problem . Anyway It have been 2 years now. I though probably was the carpet then I moved to a place with just wood floor, but did not help. My nose always feels clear, but always feel this uncomfortable mucus in my throat. Last year I went to Dominican Republic for one week on my Anniversary and my throat totally cleared out. At the beginning of this year went to Lima Peru for three weeks to celebrate new year and my throat felt clear as well. I have lived in Europe close to the mountains for many years and never had this problem. So I do not maybe is the weather of Chicago, Or probably the food. Believe me or not guys but in Usa most food are processed food and so much fat. I always in my life have eaten fresh food , and in the restaurants here is difficult to find fresh vegetables in the meal. I try to eat healthy now because I have another problem that wanted to mention just in case is related. I have intolerance to gluten. I eat just gluten free. I have been very carefully eating just healthy food and be gluten free. And do not drink nothing with lactose because I am intolerance as well. But This mucus in my throat not dissapears, and sometime feel like I have bad breath. Also I want to mention that I get bloated sometimes even though avoiding gluten. I wanted to mention just in case someone have the same problem or maybe are two different things. And also wanted to ask if anyone when travel to another country for more that one week it fells that help . I say to another country because when went to Colorado was the same and I stayed for more that one week. I thought close to the mountain would help. Another thing I wanted to mention is anyone have cold urticaria? It began also 2 years ago. When I go out and is cold specially when is windy and cold, I get hives on my face. I just want to see if it related. Sorry for my mistakes in english but is not my first language. Please help!! Sometime I feel that my body is getting use to that but I want to feel as I was before!! I feel unhealthy with this mucus in my throat, and my husband also has the same problem now but not the other things that I have mention, just mucus problem.
I am so sorry you are dealing with this mucus-I know how you feel. I have not been outside of the US, but mine started over 2 years ago when I had a respiratory infection in June! It didn't get better so i was on 3 rounds of antibiotics and 3 rounds of steroids. Then I was sent to a pulmonologist who misdiagnosed me with asthma and gave me more steroids. I got so sick with the mucus and gagging, fatigue like I never had before and almost couldn't work. In fact I am retiring 1 year early (this July 31) so I can concentrate on my health. Unfortunately I am on a medication that i do not recommend and most doctors won't give it, but I am on Tramadol which relaxes my throat and gives me energy so i can work. My holistic dr is only prescribing it because I am retiring soon and will be getting off-and going through withdrawals. But it has helped me. You are so right about the food here-DEFINITELY-gluten free-for me it was the build up of yeast in my body that lead to this mucus. It knocked my body out of whack. Gluten free-fresh organic veggies and meat-no dairy-I do a cleanse once in awhile and it helps alot-very stringent way to live but very worth it. I only missed one thing and that was my coffee in the morning, but have learned to like hot tea with lemon. I truly wish you well and will pray for your health. Nobody should have to endure this. It is a life changing event. Sincerely, Mary in West Viginia, USA
Having the same problem I was recommended by specialist to try Gaviscon. I take 1 tbs before going to be and it helps
Thank you for your response. This is the single worst experience I have had with my health in my life-I am currently gluten free and weaning off Tramadol. I don't know how I will end up in the long run-I do know that fatigue is one of the symptoms according to my holistic doctor from the candida in my body-but I also found out that weaning off long term Tramadol can cause the fatigue. Good Luck to all of us dealing with this life changing illness....Mary in West Virginia
I know this is an old post-but have you tried going gluten free? Put yourself on a fruit/veggie/meat diet & see how you feel-it takes about three weeks to notice a difference. I've been having ridiculous throat issues & drainage for over a year now. I even went to the extent of oil pulling & that seems to help a little bit. Something is going on since it seems like there are a lot of issues people are having now days with their throats & sinuses! Been to countless doctors & ENT appointments but they say "everything looks fine" OH that helps!
Thank you-yes I am gluten free now, and if I cheat the mucus gets worse. Thank you for your response too. Yeah I know what you mean, you feel terrible, and you know your body so you know something is wrong, but the doctor's tell you you're just peachy keen !! Nuthin's wrong with you!! Or have you tried seeing a counselor? I love that one.....
Mary
That's good to hear & glad you're doing the gluten free-my mucus definitely eased up, but notice some things that make it worse. It hasn't gone completely away, but I have high hopes some day it will! Oh yes...I love that one too about seeing a counselor like it's all in my head :p Thanks for the reply :)
