Hi, I have been to the doctor to do Hiv test, and he is supposed to keep all information concerning my health as a secret. But, he told my mom about this. Why did he act so?

Hi, I suppose that he believed it was better for you, to keep your parents informed about your health condition. You didn’t mention how old you are but, usually young people perform HIV tests. You are right about keeping patient’s information as one of the most important things in doctor’s job. You should talk to him about keeping your personal information as a secret, and even to members of your family. Do you think your mother will be surprised, disappointed or anything else. You should explain her that it is normal to get tested from time to time and it is for your own good.

i'm pretty sure that if you are under a certain age you physician is allowed to share heath information that could be detrimental to your health or the health of people around you. i know of a person who got pregnant at any early age and her doctor told her mom so... i can be a common thing
