Hi I know your comment was from 2 years ago but I would like to know what the GYN had to say because I'm 44 years old & have been on my period for just over 5 weeks now. It goes from heavy to light & to almost gone then comes right back. I have no pain, no blood clots. At first I thought it was early menopause because my older sister started menopause in her early 40s, but my reg Doctor said said that menopause does not start with a period that wont go away but instead it starts by skipping periods & I have not skipped any.I do have other menopause symptoms such has hot flashes, sleep trouble, anxiety & I have been getting those symptoms for a few years now befor the period that wont go away. After my docotor's visit I'm rather scared now.

I am also going through the same thing. Exhausting, isn't it? I've been using a combination of Evening Primrose oil and Vitex to get the symptoms to subside, as well as lots of St. John's Wort and 5htp for the depression.
Hope it helps!

I use Wild Yam for the sleep trouble and anxiety... I don't have hot flashes, but I have a customer who does (I work at an herb shop) and the wild yam has totally stopped her hot flashes and night sweats.
For the period symptoms I have been using Vitex and Evening Primrose oil. I've gotten the symptoms to be more managable, but the period still hasn't stopped totally.
Please let me know if you find something better.

Hello Vee: Me too. Exact same thing is happening to me,and I am also 47 years old. I had it on November 6th and then it started again on November 21st and hasn't stopped completely. It goes from medium to light and then light to nothing and then clots to medium and back to light. I do hot have hot flashes either or dryness, although I have had some fatigue. I just talked to my mother about it, and she said she remember her menstrual cycle becoming the same way.

I landed on this forum because my mentsrual bleeding has been going on for 13 days now.  My stomach is cramping and I have been having blood clots.  My cycle is usually normal and regular.  This is the first time this has happened.  I was hoping that some of those who mentioned they had doctor appointments scheduled would return with their results but it does nto appear that anyone has.

For those recommending natural remedies, I would just like to caution everyone on that.  Natural remedies can be fine and can work for some people but there is a lot to consider when taking that option.  Many medicines are now made from synthetic materials but they were originally made from the same plant origins that the natural remedies come from.  When taking natural remedies, it is important to know what you are taking, how much is necessary to treat your problem, and what the toxicity level is.  Many natural remedies - vitamins, teas, herbs, etc. - do have a level at which they can become toxic.  It also has to be understood that what may work for one person, may not work for another.  It really depends on your body, your problem, the cause of your problem, etc.  - the same as if you were taking prescription medication.  Another word of caution for things like Estroven, etc. - hormones are hormones, regardless of whether or not they are derived from a natural source, or made in a lab.  The female body works best with a certain hormone balance.  If one particular hormone is out of balance, it can thorugh everything out of wack.  Estroven, evening primerose, soy, etc. are natural derivitives of female hormones.  Taking these when not needed, or in incorrect dosages can cause your hormone balance to be off.  If you are someone who is not supposed to have hormone replacement, for whatever reason, these may be dangerous to you.  My mother had a hysterectomy some years back and cannot have hormone replacement therapy due to her risk for breast cancer.  She was told that she could not use natural hormone derivitives for the same reason.    Read up on these things before you take them and just as you would medication form the doctor.  If possible, seek out someone trained to prescribe natural remedies before you begin taking them.

I am also 30 years old and having the same thing. I really hope I didn't have a miscarriage but if I did would my vagina be sore? My period has always been on time pretty much til this past month and I was like two weeks late and than when it started it was only spotting and would stop randomly than a few days ago it seemed like it was over and I went to the bathroom and there was a rush of blood clots and it totally freaked me out and than I started bleeding very heavily and my period is still going but it's once again like spotting. I didn't have any cramps though which was very weird. I don't have insurance or money to go to the doctor but I may have to anyway.

I am 40 and stopped taking my anitdepressant that I was on for many years - my one doctor said it was a shock tomy system but it will stop. 3 and half weeks and counting on an extremely heavy, clotting period. I can't take it anymore. recently divorced and no medical insurance. I wish I could have a hystoretomy I cannot take this anymore. I barely get through the days and I take the iron but I now know to take vitamin c to help absorb it - this is totally dibilitating.

Hello everyone I may have an answer for you....I was once on my period for 3months....light then heavy light then heavy...come to find out it was a hormonal imbalance that was corrected by my dr putting me on birth control. Basically the switch in my body that tells my body to start and stop my cycle was basically stuck in so many words. The burth control regulates this for you...my dr had me take 2 bc pills a day for 5 days and then one a day after that and my period stopped and returned to normal

I am 26 years old. My period started around August 30. I have been having period related problems since my 26th birthday in May. I would go a month to a month in a half without one and then have a week of a normal period. I am currently on week 3 of my period and I am scared. I have no insurance or a job to pay for something like this.

What is wrong with me?

Go to your local health department and they will put you on the pill for free and that should take care of your problem. Like I said in my earlier post. I bled for 3 months and the bc fixed me right up
