You may find it helpful to research PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome). My diagnosis over 7 years ago and my acting on the advise of my OBGYN and his Nutritionist saved my life, marriage and family.
How much is the cost for hysterectomy ?
I'm in the same situation. but I'm 46. Mines started Christmas day and it's still on. I have cramps and never did my younger years. When is this going to stop.
I am NOT overweight and have the same problem. Unfortunately you had a very incompetent dr. Instead of helping you with a very real complaint he turned your problem into you being the problem. Anyhow, to help ease your mind somewhat: My dr does not feel its anything more than perimenopause but has ordered an ultrasound to be sure. Bleeding Longterm is not a health problem unless it is ver heavy or if you are anemic But rather it is more of a inconcenience and bothersome than anything else. There are options per my dr: birth control pills, iud or a minor uterine procedure. Thus is an old post and I hope by now your problem has corrected itself but I also hope that id**t physician has not scarred you permanently.
37 and being treated for the same issues. I went two months without a period and then boom I have had it for 6 months straight. Most days it's heavy with large clots (quarter size maybe) every now and again. For a day or two I will get a break where it's no bleeding and just a small clot or two or just light bleeding. That said those days are very few. I went to my obgyn and had an internal ultrasound. That ultrasound had the Dr thinking perhaps POS. (Based on everything looking good but seeing a few non mature fibers in my overview) they ordered blood work to test my hormones, iron, thyroid and everything came back normal. I was put on the pill and asked to come in for a pap in three months (this was about a month ago) since on the pill I had about 4 light days and the last two weeks have been heavy again. I plan on calling g the Dr today for an update to make sure she still wants me to just hang tight. I probably won't stop worrying until they do a PAP test but after reading these posts I see a common link here for many (not all) is weight. I am about 50lbs overweight. While waiting for the dr to figure out what's up I think I will see if I can shed a few lbs to see if that can help. (Easier said then done when your bleeding through a super tampon every hr and are tired all the time but I think I owe it to myself to try) Will keep everyone posted!
I'm 45 yrs old. I had a D&C on Dec 3 due to heavy and irregular periods. I got my period a week later than expected after the procedure, but it was, what felt like a "normal" period. I just got another period on Jan 21 and what started out bearable has become a nightmare. I am soaking through SuperPlus Tampons and Last night I soaked a overnight pad. I am passing some clots, blood is very red and have off and on cramping. I have had 3 vaginal births all without problems. My sister says it sounds like premenopause...I can't bear it anymore so I am going to call the doctor and see what I should be doing to stop this. I have lost a lot of blood! See what us women have to deal with :-)
I just wanted to add that this was the answer for me too. Back in college, I had a period that lasted over a month. I went on birth control for a week or so and it put me back on schedule. I never took birth control pills before or after that incident; it was just to "reset" my cycle as my body wasn't registering the normal "hey, period's over!" message.
Ok. I am 16 and have had my period too long to count. I went to the hospital bc I was cloting really bad. They gave me an exam then put me on Birth Control, then the bleeding slowed down but didn't stop. So I stopped taking the Birth Control and I now am having clots that are the size of like cigarette packs or something. I am freaking out and can't afford to go to the hospital. I need any/ all suggestions. Thanks : )
