I am very athletic and always have been. I am considered petite, I have very thin legs, but then my stomach is kind of big, its close to flat, but i have slight muffin tops. The muffin tops appear because i don't have big hips . I am 5'2 and weigh 98 pounds. Since i want to get rid of my muffin tops i am tempted to work out. But at the beginning of the summer i was so lazy ex: Being a couch potatoe all day.. but when i did this i would frequently get growing pains. But when i started working out i hardly got growing pains. Should i wait til i'm fully developed to start working out . I don't want to affect my growing because i want to be tall, because my brother is 6ft and 15yrs old.I am considered underweight so i feel like i should take a rest from vigorous exercise. I just really want to grow because my friends grew so much taller than me, and are calling me short.
PLEASE GIVE ME ADVICE:-(
You need to gain weight. Probably NOT what you want to hear - but take a minute and read the rest:
- working out will not create hips. ever.
- If you are underweight, you don't have muffin top - you have a problem where your bottom has become to small, making your middle look too big. Gain a few pounds and watch your body take on a new, healthier and more beautiful look.
- look at your mom and the other women in your family. do they have larger hips? if they do, yours may be on the way (just delayed). As women, our bodies continue to grow in the hips, butt and thighs until we're around 25. if the women in your family don't have hips, there is a good chance you won't either.
- being underweight at such a young age can delay physical development and also (yup - for real) lead to problems in your brain.
- your bmi should be around 20 to 22%. NOT from a chart, but from a proper BMI scale that measures YOU.
- when your BMI is at the correct level, your muscles develop better. muscles need sinew and tissue around them to make a cushion when you are working out. if you don't have this sinew and tissue (or you don't have enough), your body will do weird things, develop in unusual ways, and it's usually not something that you can change when you get older.
