I had my gallbladder removed about 15 yrs ago and I am still occasionally awakened in the middle of the night nauseated. The reason I had surgery was because I was frequently awakened by nausea.

A LOW EJECTION FRACTION DOES NOT MEAN STONES OR SLUDGE. I WAS AT 14 PERCENT AND HAD NEITHER WHEN IT WAS REMOVED.

I had my gallbladder out 3 1/2 years ago. I had vague aches in my upper right abdomen, nausea, which resulted in over a 30lb weight loss, diarrhea following meals (and sometimes before I was even done with my meal!) and just a general crappy feeling. Gastro Dr did an ultrasound which showed huge stones. So he offered to take it out on my terms, or wait and take it out when my gallbladder decided. I chose to schedule asap. After I had it out, the surgeon said it was the most scarred up nasty looking things he'd ever seen.
A few months after surgery, all my symptoms seemed better except the nausea. I went back to my gastro and he said I more than likely had a stone lodged in one of my bile ducts. So he scheduled me for an ERCP (which is like an endoscopy). First time in, he said I had no stones, but lots of sludge in my bile ducts, and my ducts were scarred, narrowed, and twisted. He placed stents in my ducts, except one. He said he couldn't access that one for some reason. Said he'd get that one the next month when I had my next ERCP because the stents cannot stay in.
The next month I went in. He ended up taking longer this time trying to access my other bile duct. He said mine weren't in the normal Y. Mine were basically wrapped around each other. This time I didn't recover as fast. Maybe because I was out longer, but in the parking lot I threw up. Got home and went to bed to sleep it off. Developed intense pain and a few hours later I had to go to the ER. Ended up having Pancreatitis which kept me in the hospital for 5 days, Had my 3rd and final ERCP the next month without complications.
Everything was fine until a year or 2 ago. Started getting nausea again, and the vague aches in the upper right abdomen. When my husband had to have his colonoscopy, I asked my gastro about it. He said unfortunately I may be one of few that needs to come back in from time to time for a "tune up". How do I always get so lucky?

Thank you, Doctor, for putting gall bladder surgery (pre and post op) into perspective. It makes perfect sense for the body to take time to adjust to losing one of its parts! Our immediate gratification society permeates every aspect of life, it seems. I appreciate grounded common sense.

I had my gallbladder removed 3 days ago. I was also told by everyone I knew that had this surgery, cousins, Facebook friends, everyone said it would be a breeze and I would feel co.pletely different afterwards. the first day after surgery I felt great. yesterday I got nauseous and it has not gone away. I feel hungry at times but to sick to eat, like if I do I will throw it up. the on call nurse said it was normal for some people but I hate it. I was under the impression that this surgery would fix all my problems but so far I feel worse now than before the surgery. I know I'm not that far out of surgery but still, it sucks.
when I had my hida scans and everything, I was told I have no stones or anything, but my hall bladder just wasn't working right anymore, only working at 10% or whatever. I was so sick, fever, threw up a time or two, but now the nausea is worse that before. I literally don't even feel like I can eat. like others have said, even before my surgery I felt like nights were soo much better for me than mornings I almost felt normal again. I hates to go to sleep cause I knew how I would feel when I woke up. I'm just soo ready to feel normal again. I'm sick of being nauseous.

I had my gallbladder removed 14 months ago. I have had chronic fatigue and nausea on and off the entire 14 months since my surgery. Pathology reported no disease. My HIDA scan showed high at 97% so they did surgery. I have had pretty much every test and have seen 2 GI specialists. I have been Gluten free for 10 months and don't really see a difference. The worst is if I have a drink, 1 glass of wine or vodka drink and I am in bed for 2 days. This is very frustrating. I am a nurse and it takes all I have to make it through the day. I take Zofran usually every day. I keep telling myself my body is adjusting, but I cant stand to live this way. I was running and yoga every single day prior and now I cant exercise at all. Desperate for answers!!
