In my personal opinion you are a virgin until your boyfriend/husband sticks his penis in you... I completely dont think that you are not a virgin just because you masterbated.. Sex involves too people,-or more... not one.
You can only lose your virginity if you have had vaginal sex. You can also lose your "anal virginity"... which in my opinion is a completely different thing than your "virginity". Of course there are exceptions for lesbians/gays :-)
Wow, someone fail English in here? "Too" or more people?

The word 'virgin' comes from the greek word 'virgo', which mean a girl who is not touched by a man. It means who never had sexual intercourse with a man. In fact, the word has no male gender, although some females rarely say 'male virgin'. The result of losing virginity can be the pregnancy. hence virginity has greatest significance in the life of woman. A woman loses her virginity when she allows a man's penis into her vagina.
In fact, this last explanation by a "guest" is the most technically correct one.
By definition, a woman looses her virginity the moment a male penis penetrates her vaginal opening. It doesn't matter how long, how quickly, whether he comes, or if she comes or is willing.
Many cultures place HIGH priority upon this being a requirement of their brides. However, in our modern day western society, with the loss of a hymen from so many other activities (horse riding, masturbation, surgery, petting, foreplay, etc) the definition is not as applicable as it once was.
In reality, unless you are currently visibly pregnant, there is no real way for anyone else to know that you aren't a virgin. It's really not their business, so use your own definition. Ask them why its so important to them to know.
NOBODY can tell you whether you are or aren't a virgin, cause the actual definition belongs to you.
Hope this is helpful, if not more clear.
(ANY penetration = loss of virginity)
