She lost her virginity to a boy at a party last year when she was 14 and now she is 15 and finially being baptized at easter vigil in 2015.At our parish, the preteen and teen girls wear the traditional white, poofy, top of the knees baptism dress with a bonnet, undershirt, cloth diaper, plastic pants, tights and white mary jane shoes. If she doenst wear the outfit, she will be breaking the tradition and frowned upon,if she does wear it,she will feel guilty.what do we do?
Hi there
Losing virginity is not a crime. You don't need to announce it to the world either. It is a secret between you, your daughter and her sexual partner. However to inform your parish and be honest with the Lord. Good luck
Why should she feel guilty? Where does it say you have to be a virgin to be baptized? If white is the uniform for the ceremony then she should wear white. We quit making people wear scarlet letters a long time ago. She's free to wear whatever color she wants.
Thank you for your input! Other people i have talked to pretty much said the same thing you and njoynlife said.so she will wear the white outfit.her and i have all ready started looking at the poofy white baptism dresses. We found a website that sells the teen size, white baptism bonnets and the mary jane shoes.the under shirt, cloth diaper, plastic pants and tights will not be a problem to get.I will be looking forward to dressing her in the outfit and having her in it for the day!
My daughter is 16 and non-virgin and she finially made her First Holy Communion last may with the 7 and 8 year olds. She wore a cute, poofy, knee length communion dress and matching veil with white tights and white patent leather shoes.she too had the cloth diaper and plastic pants under her tights just like all the little girls had.She very nice and no one even suspected that she wasnt a virgin.
Our daughter wore the whole outfit for her baptism and looked very cute and infant like for the ceremony! Now she will be making her first communion in may and has to wear the under shirt, diaper, plastic pants and tights with her communion dress.
Insofar as I understand the tenets of the myth system if she has remained unBAPTISED (as distinct from unCONFIRMED) until 15 she has for all this time been "in a state of original sin"; but this sin; together will all subsequent sins, will be forgiven in Baptism.
