I had Nova Sure done twice around 2001 & 2002.  Yes it stopped my heavy bleeding the second time.  BUT I swear I have been suffering from Interstitial Cystitis since and because of this proceedure.  Thirteen years of urine frequency, urgency, pelvic pain, gastro problems, etc.  I even had to retire medically at a job I loved at 48 years old to sit home in pain.

I also remember my Urology specialist contacting my OBY/GYN who performed the proceedures and she got irate and when I tried to make my next routine follow-up she could not take me.  Renowned top hospital in Boston.

Please contact me if you ever felt this after the proceedure and I pray you have not

Kris, My name is Beth. I had to Nova Sure eblations in 2001 & 2002 and after that have been suffering from Interstitial Cystitis for 13 years. IC is urinary frequency, urgency, bad pelvic pain. I had to medically retire from an excellent job at 48 with many unpaid leaves due to illness years prior. I was hospitalized for colitis and since the proceedures was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and gastro problems as well as the IC. I was very active and never get out. It ruined my life.

I had this done last May, had a few months of light periods and after over 10 years of heavy periods was bliss.  After that however they've got heavier and more painful than ever. I hardly used to get period pain but now it's as bad as labour pain and lasts for days.  My period used to last for 4 days of which 2 days were very heavy, flooding, clots etc. since novasure they now last for between 10 and 14 days and are totallu unpredictable.

i so wish I had never had this done :( staying at home for 2 days a month with a pain free heavy period seems like a walk in the park compared to what I have now.

I also had the Novasure abalation in 2009 and then suffered excruciating post ablation syndrome symptoms starting about 18 months later when my cycles returned lightly and the cervix became blocked with scar tissue. The resulting trapped blood in the uterus is called "hematometra" and the pain is excruciating, I nearly passed out while driving one day when this sent me to four different emergency rooms over the course of about 6 months with each monthly cycle. The ER visits were only about pain control, no one knew what was going on as this is such a new syndrome. The only fix is a partial or full hysterectomy. To mitigate the PAIN, you can take birth control pills and skip the week that allows your cycle to continue, just keep taking the colored pills that hold it off with each continuing pack of BCPs. I am not a doctor and you need to clear this with your OBGYN but my OBGYN approved it, it worked long enough to get me to surgery, and it kept me out of ERs until the surgery was performed, and fixed all my symptoms. I could not believe the pain this condition created, it was unlike gall bladder, child birth, etc. It was worse, by far. The VA did not know what it was, would not address it in a timely manner, and I had to use a local hospital service and declare bankruptcy from the $30,000 bills that resulted from the surgery. Best decision I ever made, however. I can work again, drive safely, and not live in fear of those monthly cycles now. Do what you can, and yes, lawsuits need to bring this problem to light to the public.

I had the Novasure procedure done on March 11th 2015 2 days after my period stopped. According to my "normal" cycle I was supposed to start my period Sunday March 29th. I have had pink discharge since I have had the proceedure done minimal cramping up until today Monday 30th. I have had pretty heavy bleeding and horrible cramps so I'm assuming I am having my period. there were some issues when I had the procedure done the machine shut off after  only 40 seconds and my Dr says I  have an indent on the top Of my uterus. Anyone else have this? She said she thinks it covered 75% but there is no way to really tell how much it got.   I

AMEN!!! I'm not the only one! _ And I'm being sued by the collection agency on behalf of the surgery clinic for not paying my bill. I paid my gyn but thought the rest was supposed to be covered - nothing was covered then to have to go back in for a partial hysterectomy to top it off! They need to put an end to that procedure! I begged for the hysterectomy but was told I was "too young, try this first" only to end up with two surgeries in 3 years! ugh!

Its been several years since I had the Novasure Ablation. I had always experienced heavy menstrual cycles, but for me the bleeding and pain got worse as I got older. At the age of 26 and after several ER and Doctors visits for pain, clotting, and weakness from the anemia, my doctor scheduled the surgery. Like some of the other ladies on this site, I did not have a menstrual cycle right after the procedure. However, I did notice that every time I coughed, I would have to try to tighten muscles to keep from urinating on myself. Then 3-4 years after the procedure and during very emotional time in my life, I began having bleeding which began lightly. The bleeding progressively got heavier and the clotting and cramps started again. Especially when I'd lay down. I made several trips to the doctor to see what was going on but, they did not have any answers for me. All I was told is that the lining had not come back and there was no answer for why I was bleeding again. One doctor told me that sometimes 2 ablation surgeries are required. I can understand that IF the bleeding had not stopped completely.
