I too gained weight in the 8 months following my surgery. I know they say it doesn't affect your hormones, but I have none of the PMS symptoms I had previously. Not to be gross, but that included days of diarrhea and colitis-like symptoms. I'm still happy I had the surgery, just fatter for it.

I had the procedure done in June of this 2013. I have also gained weight for no reason, I can't help but wonder if it is due to the Novasure procedure. Would appreciate any input. I am 45 years old. >:(

Just weight gain in stomach area is the major problem and doctor says nothing is wrong. Well I cannot see how this happened suddenly upon result of this Novasure procedure. If I had known, I would rather dealt with my problems as I was doing great in my weight. Now I am very unhappy.

I agree with you I had this done exactly one year. Since then I have gained 30 pounds. To also include the lower abdominal cramps . I have a Dr appointment next week. Not having the periods are nice however I would take them back to get rid of this weight.

Insulin resistance???? I was just researching the causes of dysmenorrhea because I was thinking about doing Novasure. I concluded that it would lead to weight gain because of researchI found that correlated and increase of serum Sex Hormone Binding Globulin levels to a decrease of dysmenorrhea symptoms. I went further to find that one of the production origination sites of SHBG is the uterus (main one is liver) and that low SHBG levels correlate to obesity, hypothyroidism, and Type 2 diabetes. I would imagine that since I am fortunate enough to be thin through my life I most likely have slight hyperthyroidism so this treatment would either balance my thyroid out and increase my weight or put me in a hypothyroid mode and make me gain weight even more. Also, I am hypoglycemic and the treatment would then also me into an insulin resistant state and even type 2 diabetes.

Hormone replacement and thyroid therapy as the levels are now changed due to the uterine lining loss. The liver makes Sex Hormone Binding Globuline but so does the uterus. Low levels of SHBG attribute to insulin resistance, weight gain, and hypothyroidism. The mid section weight gain is probably due to the increased levels of free cortisol in your body since they have fewer binding sites (they bind to transcortin found in SHBG) I also found it interesting that in the liver, the production precurser of SHBG is Hepatocyte nuclear factor 4 alpha, please research all the the wonderful biological functions of this as they include many weight management functions such as regulation of lipid metabolism and regulation of insulin secretion, regulation of growth hormone receptor signaling, triglyceride homeostasis, glucose homeostasis, etc... The procedure has been done, I suggest looking at ways to increase these protiens by means of hormone replacements, thyroid treatments, studies show a low fat vegetarian diet also increase SHBG.

I had the procedure done in Jan 2005. I too have gained a lot of weight like 25 lbs. No matter what I do I can't shake this weight off. I went from a size 8 to a 10 or 12. I'm happy I don't have a sycle anymore but, not happy with the weight gain.

I am already overweight and I surely do not need to gain more. Im tryin g to lose weight as it is. So im a little scared to do this now. Should I go with a full hysterctomy instead? I went with this option because it was the one with the least recovery time. Should I seriously rethink this?
