I have one question that started annoying me really much. I had an implant that was completed one and a half year ago. During last year I started to feel numbness in my mouth, tongue, and gums. After a year of taking some medicine, I feel like my feet, hands etc. are almost normal, just my mouth is really bad. I visited few doctors, and none seemed to have clue why I have this numbness.
I am not sure if I understood what you are asking now. I guess you want to know if an implant could cause numbness of the lip and tongue. First thing that is needed to be known is if this numbness start immediately after the implant was placed. Maybe your nerve has been damaged during the implant surgery. Another possibility is that perhaps you could have a metal allergy to that implant. I have never heard this happened, but it could be a possibility. The fact is that I can’t tell you exactly what could it be. It is really hard to do without a thorough exam and x-rays. I can just tell you for one case a man was diagnosed with a peripheral neuropathy. After he was treated with prednisone, it eliminated the problem in his hands and feet. Anyway, for the right diagnosis and right treatment you need to see a doctor, who will makes all needed exams.
