Has anyone tried Thyroid-S, a natural hormone thyroid replacement recommended on the site "stop the thyroid madness."
If so, can I just stop Synthroid and start that one?
Any help would be most appreciated

hi the reason why you are are gaining weight on synthetic t4 thyroid is because is made predominately of t4 one of the weakest of the 5 thyroid hormones that is only potentially active when converted to t3 (the most effective thyroid hormone) when you take thyroid hormones you risk the the shut down of the thyroid gland wich will make it vertually impossible to convert t4 to t3 (t3 directly enhances metabolism) so ironically by taking synthyroid you are shutting down your natural production the result is weight gain
i suggest recovering your thyroid through the human bodys natural food source fruit and vegetables if asked i will go into more detail and help you through your healing prossess to the path of weight loss and a burst of health
and vitality :D
What if your thyroid is gone due to cancer??? Any natural remedies??
I know this post is old but I would love more info. My test was in the normal my Dr said it was 3.6 but she put me on synthroid a month ago.I still feel real bad, cant sleep at night, my vision seems worse,I feel like my throat is thick, still have headaches daily, and get dizzy at times....As I said I have only been on this med for little over a month can I get off of it......Please help
I have been on SYnthroid for about 6 months I lost acouple pounds and thats it i exercise everyday and ill lose another 2 pounds but then itll come right back like a yoyo for 6 months i hate this disease
OMG, you sound like me. I have been on Levoxyl for 14 years but recently switched to Synthroid because I didnt feel right. I have now gained wieght, 7 lbs in 5 mos - not alot but for someone who has maintained the same weight for several years, this is alot!! And, I fee grumpy, frumpy, bloated, gasy and just plain miserable. Plus, I feel like i have a hair loss issue now. perhaps it is all age, I am 52, but my doctor says "that is not a significant weight loss, i am not worried" plus she doesn't seem to know of the correlation between thyroid and hair loss. I am hypo and my test have gone from 2.279 (12/11) to 0.107 (5/12) to 4.150 (10/12) and the doctor is fine with the jumpiness of it. I am miserable.
I have gained 12 pounds and bloated since talking the medications. No more after today done will try to go the holistic way out . Natural supplement !!!!!
I am so irritated with this disease and Sythroid and Levothyrox-whatever and Armour and Natural Supplements....tried it all over the past 5 years....if I didn't have faith in G-d, I'd kill myself....and I know that there are waaay worse things to go through and to have, but psychologically, this madness with these drugs makes me sick!
I gained so much weight , stomach is bloated looking/feeling, face is always fat on Synthroid. I quit. So frustrated with this. I will try the "food" holistic approach one more time, then after that, I am writing a will.
This thyroid has caused me other health problems...I have to wear a heart monitor because I am experiencing second degree heart block from thethyroid not functioning and previous long term anemia. SYNTHROID IS A SYN! And i am venting here because I have no where else to vent....
I wouldnt be surprised if they find something wrong with this SYNTHETIC SYN soon. HERE is a list of my other symptoms when taking SYNTHROID or LEVOTHYROXINE or even ARMOUR:
Hair changes, Weight gain, tiredness, sooo hungry, small pimples, sometime palpitations, mood swings, infertility, and obviously depression... same ole signs as being without the med except I GAIN WEIGHT on the med and I feel HUNGRY ALL THE TIME on the med....
CATCH 22...DARNED if I do, DARNED if I dont..... end of rant ..........
i sympathize with you. I had NO problems for almost 14 yrs on Levothryoxine, then the moodiness fog began early this year, hair changed drastically- texture, doesn't grow as fast or lay the same, cowlicks, (course, i am 52, could be my age) gained some weight - have tummy now. Synthryoid didnt help nor do doctors - my GP's. I am going to see a Endocronologist - perhaps I will be treated better there, I don;'t know, but it is worth a try. It is as if a light switch went off (or on, depending on how you look at it) and nothing has been the same. started using special shampoos for thinning hair.. oy...my calves, they have become bigger, what gives?? I am not a big eater. but it is the moodiness and the "fog" that get me down.. I just want to be happier.
I hear you! I started taking Synthroid 100 mcg a few months ago, and, yes I have been steadily gaining more and more weight ... also d/stomach is getting bigger!!! When I went to this new doc, he asked me why I was on the Levoxyl! I said because my doctor who took my thyroid out put me on it! ... duh!
I truly believe that this new stuff (Synthroid) is causing me to gain more weight ... I don't know how much more I can take!
Oh, btw, this new doc IS an endocrinologist!!!
I have been on Syntroid for a year and have gained 30 lbs. I eat well and move my body. Mine is also fat in the gut. My doctor also says it's not the medicine. I have been told to see a specialist is this field. Looking for answers....
Yes, I'm having the same problem. My doctor told me I should be losing weight taking synthroid, not the case. The weight just keeps piling on. Something is wrong with this picture. So the 21 st of Dec. I quit taking the medication, just to see if I start dropping this weight. I'll give it about 2 weeks, I'll let you know!
Oh Please do Share - what have you been doing Instead? I switched to Armour; was on Synthroid then Synthroid and Cytomel - I'm still miserable and more so now as time goes by..... Would love to hear back from you, if even just a private message
Yes , I too have experienced the same. I have never had large hips nor thighs all of a sudden I feel like I have thunder thighs. I feel like I eat well. Can't seem to lose any weight. Although now I feel if I don't continue to take care of what I eat I will be worse than what I am now.
I would very much like to hear your input. As I to was able to eat everything and not gain. Now every month I go up in weight. I was a size 4/6 and now a year later I am a size 8. This has got to stop. Please help.
