klsmm- I have had the same symptoms and discovered my bronchial tree was permanently inflames. This was found either by C-scan or MRI, I don't remember. I solved the problem by taking Tussigon pills. I can only take them in the morning because it gives me insomnia if I take one at night. I may be the only one that gets this side effect.

As for your eye symptoms, they are classic "dry eye". I know it seems strange that they would secrete if dry, but they do. OTC drops for dry eye works. Good Luck

No you don't have a chest infection or need antibiotics as you are not ill. I have had this mucus/saliva problem for 2 years. It started when I was 60. Really annoying and disruptive of sleep. Tramadol (Ultram ) if you can get yr doctor to prescribe, is fabulous at night for the mail side effect-it dries up your nose and mouth all night. 50 - 100 mg is plenty, night only.

I think it is not really the night or the dark that causes this, in fact the gravity works for you and against you. When you lye down for over one or two hours, the sputum cannot readily go down and it stores in the throat. During day the force of gravity pulls it down and you dont have much or any symptom. the probblem is due to your sinus and post nasal drip issues. You may also do an alergy test as well as PH test to rule out other causes.

I have the same problem; recently the doctor told me I have to do a PH test to see if I have stomach acid that causes similar symptoms, I was also told to do an alergy skin test for molds that I have not done it yet, You may consider that, If you have an allergy they decentisize you by giving a small dose of the same allergen until your body builds up your immune against that.
This is so crazy and I also wake up afer a few hours of sleep becasue of similar symptoms. I have taken antibiotics but no results yet. I pay $5000 for a cure. to get over this

Do a brain MRI and ask to focus on your sinuses. I am sure they see something there to treat.

I am having the same issue, though the major problem is the mucus in my mouth. I'll wake up, and can barely breathe through it. But his only happens about once every three weeks or so. I decided to start keeping a detailed journal what what I ate and drank the day before this happens.
I am an avid researcher and reader, and so I took to the internet. I have found that while we sleep, our body does a lot of cleansing! It cleans out seven different organ systems - primarily our digestive system. I have also found that what we eat and drink effects our bodies in numerous ways, but the one way I've noticed is whether that food has an ACIDIC or ALKALINING effect on our bodies. The more acid causing foods I eat (this is not just stomach acid...I'm talking ALL kinds of acids), without having barely any alkalining foods. Sometimes, even the water we drink can be acidic. Maybe you can check into that?

i was coughing white/clear bubbly and sometimes jelly-like phlegm for months until I was diagnosed with asthma. I was prescribed a long acting inhaler. But it didn't stop the coughing. I started taking 150mg of Zantac before bed within two weeks the cough went away almost completely. What I have is probably a combination of asthma and silent acid reflux(I have no heart burn). some of you may b suffering from the same thing.

Definitely get the pH done. I have silent reflux that caused the symptoms

Me Too!   I seem to get it at about 2 or 3 am after lights out at 11 or 12pm.   I have to get up to have a really good cough up and spit.   I then go to bed and have no problems for the rest of the night.   It's nearly always the same except that about once a week I have a mucus free night!

I've had this for years and I've tried everything.  The specialists mostly say it's GERD but I don't think so, I take proton pump inhibitors Omaprazon) but still get it.  I also get terrible breath or so my wife says!
