I am a fairly healthy and active 20 year old female. In February, I went to my OB/GYN and she found out that I had an 8cm cyst growing on my right ovary. The cyst was so big that it had grew so much and pushed my uterus over to the left side, squishing my left ovary. In fact, before the actual ultrasound to confirm the cyst, the doctor did a manual vaginal exam and at first thought that my uterus was an enlarged ovary and that the actual cyst was my uterus because of its size and position. Anyway, she performed surgery and removed the cyst. Then about a month later in March, I started having these awful pains in my abdominal area. I went back to my OB/GYN to have another ultrasound and she told me that, just in a month's time, another cyst had grown on the same ovary. This one was half the size of the first one and had ruptured, which was causing me so much pain. So I had another surgery to remove that one and the doctor ended up having to remove my whole right ovary all together. So time went on and I went for another ultrasound last month in October which came back normal with no signs of cysts. Now it's November and I just found out that I now have a cyst on my left ovary. I was having some pains again, which prompted me to go to the doctor. This one is a little over 3cm big and she said that I have some free fluid in my pelvis, which means that it's leaking. Being that I only have one ovary, she doesn't want to jump right into surgery because there's a chance that she might have to remove the whole thing. So, I have to go back next month to get another ultrasound to see how it's looking by then so she'll know if I'll have to have surgery again or not. I'm married and me and my husband really, REALLY want children. Even with my one ovary, history, and cyst(s), could I still get pregnant and carry children to full term if I don't have surgery to remove it (them)?
Hi
I have read more than once that you can still get pregnant with once ovary, one woman had 3 children just from the one. Apparently you can even get pregnant with part of the ovary removed!
My advice would be trust your dr as she sounds good (i.e not just jumping into surgery and giving your body a chance) but also go with ur instincts. If ur starting to get bad pains dont be scared to go back incase she has to operate as things could get worse.
My thoughts and prayers are with you that this all works out that you can both start your family soon!

I just found out that I have an 8in cyst pushing on my left ovary pushing my uterus to the right. When you were diagnosised was your uterus still able to retract to the same position? or did it get damaged at all? im really scared. I dont want them to take out my ovary or any other time of procedures. I dont have kids yet and i do want them. Im sorry for the questions, but your situation kinda sound like mine. :0)
