I have symptoms of a kidney stone for about 3 months, but the cat scan only showed a calcification, possibly a small stone. I've elected to have the cystoscopy done this friday to either get the possbile stone out or to at least figure out where my pain is coming from. Am i stupid for having this procedure done when the doctor is not even sure it is a stone?

Dont want to alarm ladies but please ask dr about ovarian cancer, it sometimes has bladder irritation issues and your pap smear test wont show ovarian cancer nor will a sonargram it might show something assumesd to be a cyst so please check out online signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer and if need be get a T marker blood test to check that out, I am having the blood test today to make sure its only hormonal and not ovary cancer

For the past few days I have been feeling like I have to urinate constantly. The thing is it doesn't burn when I pee, I just feel this painful sensation in my uretha, and only a little bit comes out. I was sure I had a UTI, or a kidney infection because I was having the WORST back pain. I went to the hospital, they gave me antibiotics. I went to my family doctor and he said my urine was completely clean. He did a pelvic exam and said that uretha was very swollen and thinks its from a yeast. He put me on diflucan but it's not working. I still feel like I constantly have to urinate. It's not going away. Tramadol helps me sleep at night but its hard for me to work. And I'm not sure what to do to feel better. Any suggestions would be helpful.

I have had the same symptoms and clean urinalysis. Frequent & urgent urination, back pain & abdominal pain above pubic bone. Pain in urethra that is hard to describe. I have had this before, but by far suffering my worst episode. Realized it may be the pelvic floor muscles. Not too many doctors know about it, but is starting to gain traction with the medical community.

Hi. I wanted to offer up a solution for this issue I have tried and have had sucess with. I will preface all this by saying I am not a doctor or in anyway qualified to give medical advise. I'm male, 30yrs. I had this issue on and off for a very long time. What worked for me was baking soda and water. I used 2-3 tsp of powder and a mug of water and just let it all soak. I noticed a massive change after the second day.

Hi, I am an 18 year old female and I have been having UTI like symptoms for 2 years very frequently. I may have one twice in one month or go without one for 3 months but I have never went longer than 3 months between them. I have went to my doctor multiple times and only twice has the test came back positive and they have been sent to the lab each time. Now my doctor thinks it is all in my head and will no longer prescribe me the antibotics. My symptoms are burning during urination and the constant feeling of have to urniate. I have taken azo and drank cranberry juice it will give me a little but hardly no relief. I also sit in hot bath water or with a heating pad constantly applying pressure to the area which helps. However, sometimes it is so bad that I cannot even attend class or work because if I move I will get constant severe pain. I am sexually active and I know I do not have any STDs however during in sex I can only do it missionary because every other way sends a sharp shooting pain. So I am just really exhausted all ideas of what is going on and I want to find some relief of the constant symptoms. I have read about IC and considered that option but I also read it is very rare in young adults. So if anyone has any suggestions, ideas or rememdies I would love to take that advice and try it out.

Wow...finally people who feel the way that I do. My issues started in College with UTI's about 1-2 per year. Then I was getting 4-5 a year and went to the Urologist. Had a catheter placed and cultures done, everything normal. Have had two ultrasounds and a CT scan, all normal. Just last year finally did the STI test and had Gonorrhea...but I had a new partner too that year. We were both treated, retested (and clean) but then 4 months later I had what felt like a UTI. It was after a night of intercourse and (a little too much) wine. I had that flare up nearly a week long while touring Europe from the US. My urine was clean and I had culures done which were negative.

It seems like I have chronic cystitis or fall somewhere on the Painful Bladder Syndrome spectrum. I can go 6mo to a year with nothing and BAM it returns! My urine is almost always clean (no infection) and I will often have burning and pain between urinating and not during (when I have a flare up). Going through another flare up now but I take Macrodantin. My Uro said not to take it daily anymore but when I have a flair up to take four 50mg tablets a day for a week. Doing that now and drinking plenty of fluids. Currently have a painful urethra but not much else. Taking Ibuprofen and Macrodantin, Urostat OTC med for pain when I need it.

I too have had docs say they don't know what to do. My Uro wanted to do a Cystoscopy but I have heard that 99.99% of the time they find nothing and some people get much worse afteward. I have yet to agree to anything that invasive. Do not know what to do either...

Please, please, please let me know if anyone finds something that really works - especially for the pain while urinating.  I also have started having some discharge (yellowish green) - its not an STD, and I completed a round of antibiotics given by my doctor for bacterial vaginosis.  But the pain while urinating is still there, and I cannot have sex - the idea of sex is so upsetting, given this pain ( I am a female, who is trying to conceive).  The pain only improves when I have been drinking lots and lots of water.

Warning: drinking acidic beverages (including lemonade and CRANBERRY juice) can make the pain worse.  The more acidic my urine is, the more it hurts.  This is crazy, because I have not had multiple UTIs.  Just one day of sex without bathing first (a month ago), and then this started the next day, and hasn't completely cleared up since.

Please help me.  I can't continue like this.

I'm a female and what you've been through so far has happened to me in exactly the same way. Just had a bad episode of the severe pain and what seems to be inflammation. I tried uva ursi tea, many servings of soda bicarbonate, plenty of water, neurofen and I had in mind few more I wanted to try (golden seal, vitamin c 1000mg, parsley tea) but suddenly after 2 tbsp of apple cider vinegar and a glass of water it's all gone. I think after courses of antibiotics the urethra has been very sensitised and when the body's balance turns acidic after eating certain foods, it irritates/ inflames the urethra which brings on the dreaded symptoms.

I totally feel your pain!I have had more UTIs than I count, as well as two kidney infections. Eventually, I went to see a urologist and was subscribed preventative antibiotics - that didn't really work out for me. I went in for what I thought was a UTI, but the results were negative for bacteria. However, I had all the symptoms of a UTI and believe me, I know them all too well.  I then learned about Interstitial Cystistis (mouthful, I know) also know as, Bladder Pain Syndrome:

You should ask your doctor about it, because there are things you can do to relieve your symptoms. I had to cut out caffeine - tea and coffee are irritants. Also, alcohol really aggravates my symptoms. I drink A LOT of water! It has helped tremendously to the point that I feel 100% better. If I have a flare up, I take AZO (you can get OTC) or Pyridium (prescription - cheaper/higher dosage), which helps me lickity split!

Hope this helps!

Try an ice pack wrapped in a towel to sleep at night.  Drinking lots of water helps too.  Alleve can help with the pain. My husband tries to be understanding but I know he is worried. I read not to put any ointment, but an all natural jojoba, beeswax, coconut salve helps me.

I have had all these symptoms for 10 days and today I finally went to the Dr. They sampled my urine and I had a definite bladder infection that had spread just that quick to my kidneys. PAIN IN MY LEFT SIDE UNDER MY RIBS ALONG WITH THE SENSATION IN THE URETHRA DURING PEE TIME AND AFTER. I got a big shot of penicillin and antibiotics to take along with pain meds. Don't go untreated. He said my white blood cells were crazy high levels and it could have been very dangerous.

you can always go buy the test strips, in the UK and US they are sold over counter and I think AZO makes a pack of 3 tests in Australia unfortunatly only ones we can get is a packet of 100 thats about 90bux or more and after you open the bottle they only last about 3 to 6months and noway youd use 100 tests in that time, only thing you could do is get 3 other ladies to pitch in and have 25 each. Then in morning if you think something is wrong test the urine and if its showing white cells or blood etc go the dr tell him you did a test, or what I do being I wont pay 90bux is just go into the nurses bay at the dr office and get them do a test strip and if its bad I wait and see a dr if its clear I go home and drink more water and take Hiprex for a few days and cut back sugars etc.But Trayco is right dont muck around with online advise and home cures make sure you get tested first

I need help! 4 years ago after a c-section I had severe pain for months afterward. My doctor kept treating me for a UTI, nothing helped. A few ct scans and x-rays later nothing helped. I was treated with narcotic pain medicine. After a while, I was ok again. Did not need any medicine anymore. Then suddenly after a kidney infection all the pain came back. It's been almost 5 months of constant torture and pain. I had a hida-scan, gallbladder ultrasound, colonoscopy, hysterectomy, and then finally I thought I found out what was wrong. I had endometriosis on my appendix and adhesions on my ovary/fallopian tube. It's been a week since my surgery and the dreaded pain is back. I'm at a loss. What do I do? My doctors have done everything they can, except maybe send me to a urologist. I don't know what else to do. I'm always uncomfortable, can't sleep, I'm beginning to lose weight and my sex life is nill. I'm only 27..someone help me. I'm desperate.
