What is causing this pain
Reply

I also have just started having this pain, it lasted for two days in my left upper thigh into my buttox, it hurts so bad when I step or or sit with my legs out. it started a couple weeks ago , and now just today when sitting idian style and getting up off the floor, now the pain is in my right thigh in the back going into my buttox just like the left did, I also have bruising on my right forearm, which I thought was from batting at softball, but now these pains in my thighs have started and bothering me so badly!

The worst pain in when walking, but even when laying and turnig from side to side or trying to stretch the pain out with extra fluid intake is still makes me want to scream!!!

yeah its exactly how I felt, its probably your sciatic nerve or a pinched vertebrae in your back. I highly recommend going with an acupuncturist since it was the only thing that finally ended the severe pain. I sometimes still get it but not as extreme as before and only after certain actions.

This pain is caused by a herniated disk. OR a nerve trapped . I have degenerative disc disease, and live with this everyday, Had cortisone shots 3 times, and getting near the end of the relief period. Pain coming back again. Right now have deep pain in the back of my left leg. Also buttock when I sit. Mean my nerve is trapped again. Sciatica is really the same thing. The sciatic nerve gets trapped. See your doc who will send you to neurologist.

DOCTORS SUCK, AND WILL NOT TAKE THE TIME TO GET TO THE REAL SOURCE OF THE PROBLEMS.  Believe it or not, a medical doctor will prescribe pain meds and thats about it.  If you really want to find out the exact source, go to a chiropractor and ask them to get xrays of every part of you that hurts and is in pain and tell them you do not know where the pain is coming from.  They will conduct nerve, muscle and xray test and get to the real issue at hand.  I am 44 and had pain you are describing for years and years.  Since I was 33, I have saw numerous doctors.  Your leg can hurt, and, it can be coming from your back.  Or, it could be your leg.  But, a medical doc just takes a guess at what you tell them.  A chiropractor does more this day and time than just adjust you.  They xray, and, do certain physical therapy, and, spinal decompression if you were to have a back issue.  I have the same issue.  My lower left buttock hurts, gets sore, along with the back of left leg, and sometimes, it feels as if its my knee or foot.  So, I have no idea what it actually is YET.  I do know I have disc problems.  My doc told me that, but, will not tell me which one is the major cause of pain and IF that is what is causing my left sided problems.  My lower back doesn't hurt, but, it is stiff at times.

Currently, I am awaiting the results of my chiropractor test.  She wants to pinpoint where the pain is coming from and tell me what is CAUSING IT so they can TREAT THE PROBLEM!  No doc wants to do that.

Hi

I have the similar pain and also hurts more when I will need to go to the toilet (wee) which I've probably hold my bladder, so I can find the nearest toilet, and then the pain gets even stronger and i can't hardly stand the pain..The longer I hold my bladder the more pain persist it is uncomfortable feeling at the front part of my ****

Is there any answer to this dilemma?

I have gone through each and everyone's stories, but it seems they still no answer revealed..

I do not think this is a sciatica nerve because this pain is totally different I have sciatica in both legs..

When you sit on a chair the bottom surface of your thigh and the buttock are pressed against the seat. That pressure will partially block the blood flow in that area. For people with lower blood pressure this effect will be higher. When that pressure stops the blood flow on the skin you get irritation on the surface, when that blocks the blood flow in the muscle that starts giving the pain. This pain will start after 15 minutes of sitting and it will increase with time. If you are able to move switch posture in such a way that part of the area is relieved by lifting up, and keep switching the area you will get some relief. But need to stand up for the full relief. Naturally our body will keep changing the posture to overcome this problem (like even when you sleep you keep switching the posture). Tetromatic has invented a chair especially to stop this thigh pain while sitting. This chair will keep relieving the thigh part by part all over, thus allowing the blood flow all over.

I am getting awful pain under my left buttock if I drive for anything longer than a short period of time. I constantly try and stretch my left leg out whilst driving to ease the pain, without success. It's like a toothache-type pain just below my buttock. It used to be that as soon as I stepped out the car it disappeared, but I am now finding I sense it even after driving. It's so bad these days that I tend to be taking painkillers if I am driving for any reasonable period of time.

I am in the car ( passenger seat) right now and really relate....and want to scream in pain. My chiro said it is piriformis syndrome. It came on after I did some speedwork for a marathon coming up...so I am praying that is it. But boy, does this hurt!! Hang in there. I stretch alot, am doing some light strengthening exercises and ice and take aleve. But rest does help...even though that is close too impossible for us runners. Let me know what works...again, hang in there!

I went to the physio with these problems, they didn't do much they did very deep massage on the top of my thigh and stretched my leg in different angles, I also had acupuncture in both of my legs which again didn't seem to help, also you would be given exercises to undertake which I did all but again no changes seem to happen I have had this problem for about a year and a half now, I am a student so I have to sit down a lot during class so as you can imagine I was in a lot of pain and I end up having to sit right on the edge of the seat so that I don't put too much pressure on my thighs which eases the pain slightly. It is beginning to be unbearable also my school is an hour away from where I live so I have to sit on a bus for two hours a day which is agony. If you find out more about this problem please let me know I really don't know what else to do to get this problem fixed! Everyone I’ve been to can't diagnose me :(

I recognise what you have to attempt to ease this. Everywhere I go, I end up trying to sit in seats with my left buttock off the seat to try and ease the pain. I always have to sit on the edge of a seat to ease the pressure on my thigh and buttock.

Additional note: If you recently start doing any exercise that stretches the back of the thigh/butt, it will make new cells to grow there - that makes the pain noticeable. The pain was always there, but after the growth of new cells, that pain is noticed more then before.

Hi... I have seen a few docs about this pain, and it sounds like piriformis syndrome. It is a muscle deep in the buttocks, and when irritated, it can press on the sciatic nerve, mimicing hamstring pain, tendonitis, and all sorts of ailments. I have found ice and ibuprophen help. I am a runner, and it kicks in after a long run or while increasing speed, and even forced me to walk the last 10 miles of a marathon I did last week. Hurts like heck. Oh, also, sitting with a tennis ball under that part of your butt while driving helps. Sounds nuts, but trust me, it seriously helps. Good luck.!
