Two doctors told me it was a lipoma, and two said it was a cyst. I have one to the left of my lower back dimple deep under my skin and it burns sometimes without touching it. I think one is on the right side too in a different place but smaller. I'm only 20 and healthy, so I'm not sure what is causing it. Doctors can't do anything except an ultrasound.

Have been feeling the same thing. Small concentrated pain in my right lower back. Like a tiny lump I can move around. But it's weird cause I know the exact day it started and it was when I PRed my deadlift. After over a month it suddenly got better after shoveling snow (weird cause I thought it would be in so much pain after but it felt like I threw the snow and a knot untied and then got bad again after I squatted and back stepped after I lost balance. i don't know if it's a benign tumor that just gets irritated when I lift weights or if there's something else it could be like a really bad knot. Any thoughts?

it could an ingrown bump and if it is it will go away as long as you massage it and don't strain your back

Sounds like trapped air being released. Can be very loud and chiropractor's frown when they hear anyone purposely 'poping' their joints. Pop my neck all the time because it's quite painful if I don't. It's very loud and sometimes painful...but it's a good pain.

I have had lower back pain on my left side for over a year now. It is so painful that I have a hard time lifting that leg. I finally was able to get a CT scan and they found the lipoma. I'm scheduled to have it removed next week. I'll post back with my results!!

If you do some more research you will see that Lipomas can be painful and that is the main reason people have them removed. I found this information on the Mayo Clinic website for Lipomas.

Im 18 and I've had a hard lump in my lower left back next to the lumbar area for years. Anytime I exercise, the lump and my hip hurt. And during my mentrual cycle, the lump will go from about 1 inch then inflame to 2 inches in diameter. The pain radiates through my entire left side of my body and its worse from the lump down into my thigh and leg. I have to twist my ankles and put pressure on my thigh to aleviate the pain. It is absolutely excruciating. I have no idea what it is and everyone is telling me it is abnormal. If anyone knows what this thing is, please enlighten me and the rest of us that are eager to find out.
