Omg to the person above that is EXACTLY what I am going through right now. I had my gallbladder out in March of 2012. And the doctors did tell me it is common to experience phantom pain occasionally. Well this is not occasionally this is ALL THE TIME!! And mine too radiates to my pelvic area to the point that I told my gynecologist I must have something wrong there or in that area because there is constant pain and pressure. It feels like something is constantly pushing against my right pelvic bone. But the pain is still in the EXACT place where I was feeling before my gallbladder surgery and now after having the gallbladder removed the pain is still there.

I have had the small cuts placed in the sphincter of Oddi. It worked for about 2 months and the pain came back again. They said that the procedure would probably need to be done about every 6 months. I will not have it done anymore. It is painful to walk for about 14 days.

Hi, I just had my GB out 5 weeks ago. I had no pain at all before the surgery and found out about the stone when I went in for a Cat scan for another issue. The day I came home for surgery I had this pain on my right side and thought of course it was from the surgery, then about a week later I called the dr and was told they put CO2 in you and that will go away after my body passes it. OK, 5 weeks later I still have pain under my right rib. Some days are better then others. But to breathe in really hurts sometimes. This just sucks. I have never been sick before this. I will keep looking on the web but I am staying away from Dr's. All of the post have helped me in that I know it's not all in my head. Thanks

I don't know how old everyone is but, I am 15. I had my gallbladder taken out 2 weeks ago! I am the most confused person ever a couple days ago I vomitted. I am not sure what it was, maybe too much food not sure... Today after bending down this EXACT pain appeared and won't go away with Ibuprofen or ice. Should my parents call my doctor!?

I had experiencing these same symptoms.  They were extremely painful and I was at the point of not being able to sleep at all....literally.  This caused some very bad thought problems and depression.  I began going to a different chiropractor, who took exrays and began treatment of subluxation of the neck and mid back.  I was treated with decompression pulls on my neck and midback (3 x week) for approx. a month.  Then went to twice a week, and now am on once a month.

In addition, I also saw a Health and Welness dr. who has given me some food suppliments and suggested a strick diet of no simple carbs or sugars.  Fresh or frozen vegs, twice as many vegs as meat.  I was so bad for a time there, my bowel movements were many times a day, but just "fluff".... not real substance.  I actually had no appetite.  I had to wait until my stomach was growling and then eat a handful of food.  I lost 30 pounds.

But, I am doing much better.  I still have the pain off and on and most the time it is not so bad.  I started sleeping better, almost immediately and the psychosis has practically disapeared.  I am able to eat so much better.  I'm not where I want to be, but I am doing so much better and have hope again.

Just recently, I went off the diet over the Thanksgiving weekend and ate a lot of carps and sugar.  This week I'm having more pain then usual and have gone back on the complex carps and protein diet.  It seems to work better and I actually enjoy the food.  Although I keep adding new foods to my list as I go along.  It's like a whole new life of eating the right foods.

Hope this helps some people.  If anybody else has any other info, please let me know.  Thanks.

God Bless,

Vicki D.

I was very healthy and active until gallbladder was remover in 2007. I have had this pain like the rest of you can't count the money and doctors I've seen. I have for a year had a Christian gastro determined to help me, I have done the pain meds to no avail. The nerve blocks. The tests too many times to mention. I was sent to a surgeon and he went in to repair nerve damage 2 1/2 weeks ago. I will let you know if it works because it seemed like last resort to try to get back to a normal life. Yes you can't bend to the right, can't expand lungs to sing. Can't eat a regular sized meal. Pain radiates from rib cage into back when very aggravated. The more you move the worse the pain. I will keep you all posted still on the recovery I hope it works so I can refer you all to get better also. Will update later.

I too have had all of the symptoms that you have all listed. GB removed in '06 and still the pain never left. I too have fibromyalgia which was diagnosed after the GB surgery. The one thing that has really really helped me was the removal of ALL gluten from my diet. I tested negative for Celiac Disease but still on the borderline. I removed all gluten at the request of a homeopathic doctor and found tremendous relief after several weeks. More energy, no gut pain, just feeling a LOT healthier all around. I've been struggling for 20+ years with these symptoms and finally have found that the elimination of all wheat and gluten from my diet to be the most helpful. I hope that someone else reads this and also finds relief as I did. Nobody can imagine the pain and discomfort and a lack of wanting to eat because of the painful consequences until you actually go through it. I've been treated terribly by my GP, Surgeon and GI doctor. I highly suggest a homeopathic/natural doctor because they tend to look at the whole person and the whole picture before making any assumptions or decisions. Good luck to all of you who are currently suffering. It really CAN get better for you.

I am suffering the same problems as all of these posts as well! I had my gall bladder out last summer and felt great until a bad bout with the flu in December. The pain under my ribs is so bad im not able to sleep at night as the pain worsens when im laying down. Im almost incontinent for several hours in the morning, and my ribs too have spread and i am so bloated. I haven't seen the dr yet because before i had my gall bladder out I went through a year of tests and being told nothing is wrong until i as so debilitated with pain that i was rushed by ambulance for emergency surgery. I don't want to go through that again! My complaint had my entire circle of family and friends thinking i was a big hypochondriac until i landed in the hospital! I dont know what to do now besides go back to the post galbladder surgery diet and see what happens. Finding these posts has brought me some comfort because i have done nothing but worry about the worst. I have heard that many post surgery patients develop dyverticulitus...more commen in Hispanics....which I am. If this helps anyone

My cramps started about 2 years before I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and 25 years after I had my gallbladder out. I am currently 61, diagnosed with morbid obesity( which didn't happen until I was put on Elavil), chronic fatigue, type 2 diabetes( non-insulin, diet & pills only). Plus kidney problems- and all that goes with ALL those conditions. When the cramps come, the muscles go rigid there, and actually look like a baby skull pushing out- definitely visible, even on someone my size. But I can never get to a Dr that knows me, and knows I don't normally have a knot there. The only way to deal with it is to lay flat on a hard surface, and stretch the cramp out. And the best I can tell- it happens when I've either overdone it ( done more than the limited amount of movement/exercise/ work that my Fibro will allow that day. It also happens if I let myself get very dehydrated ( I try to be careful of that)

Whatever this is- it sucks, and has spoiled many a family outing( pretty much restricted to necessary shopping , going out to eat, and a movie in one of those fancy theaters with the recliner seating) when it hits, I can't think, can't drive, etc. I was thinking maybe spleen- since I have had mono several times (without having kissed anyone in 20 years). Anybody have that checked out?

I had my gall bladder removed in March 2012. After surgery have not been the same. I was throwing up couldn't keep liquids or food down was dehydrated and had to go to ER almost every week. I was dropoing weigt which was the only benefit. I continue with the same stomach issues. Pain in the upper abdomen area as well as pain to my back. If I bend down wrong I feel like my stomach pivits and my stomach tightens and I have to rub the stomach to calm it down. The only thing that seems to calm it from happening is going to the acupuncture doctor. I wish it was covered by medical so I could go more often. It's a never ending battle.

I'm experiencing this pain now after gall bladder surgery March 2014. Dr. Put me through all kinds of tests and they all came back negative. Guess I have to live with it. Not fun at all. Is there a doctor out there who can give relief without pain meds? Or don't they really care. That is what's surgeon did to me. Can't explain it so I can't help you, bye and good luck.

I also have sever pain on the right side that takes me down, my gall bladder was remove in 1981.My doctor told me that 12 out of a thousand people have sever pain after removal of the gall bladder and they do not know why.He also told me he was treating 12 his self.I guess that means get use to it.Pain killers and Gabapentin has help some. But if I move around a lot its back and doubles me over. They really need to do a study and find out what causes this.It is really hard to live this was and it causes our problems like depression.I have gotten to were I move around as little as I have to this is no way to live.
