Unfortunately with the boils that get some hardening to them they tend to stay in the skin unless surgically removed. I've dealt with a Boil behind my ear once (age 14) and had to have my mother drain the damn thing out for me cause I couldn't do it, it was just hurting to much. Now I have the same thing (it seems so far anyway) on my right inner thigh. And one thing I noticed is that for me being a 23 year old male, I have stretch marks around my groin area and some around my buttocks too (and I've never had weight issues, but I am stressed alot lol). I'm guessing my body grew faster than my skin was ready for... but this boil started in one of the stretch marks but it just started out looking like a normal zit that well like all others I tried to make come to a head and get rid of, But that was unsuccessful. Now I've noticed after my one workout I did this past Saturday that it turned purple like it was getting blood into it, and the surface temp on/around it is much hotter than the rest of my body. Possibly due to the fact that there's a minor amount of blood building in it. Hopefully when I see the doc soon we will be able to figure out what it truly is. I pray it's not a lymph problem honestly, but whose to say until I see a doc I wont know. I'll be sure to post at least my findings after that.
Hey Guys. I am a 26 year old overweight nurse. I have been getting these little suckers for a while as well in my inner thighs. I believe it is associated with being overweight and chaffing. I know certain fabrics can make them irritated and then they get larger and more painful. If possible, avoid squeezing or lancing or manipulating them in anyway! If you absolutely have to mess with it, WASH your hands and the area really well both before and after. Sometimes they can be from clogged sweat glands or hair follicles. You could be the cleanest heavy set person...but sometimes the clothing you wear impedes on airflow thus creating a moist environment. The key is to wear breathable clothes...cotton. Using baby powder is nice and helps with absorption...but it is a huge breeding ground for germs! Try Gold Bond or something like that. Keep the area clean and dry and try to get airflow to the area. Of course losing weight will keep the chaffing and moisture to a minimum as well...but you'll probably chaff while you're moving to lose that weight! You should only wear tight fitting material during exercise...otherwise keep it loose! Hope this helps.
I AM A RETIRED DOCTOR, AND ALOT OF MY PATIENTS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM THROUGHOUT THE YEARS. I WILL SUGGEST ASKING YOUR PERSONAL DOCTOR FOR KEFLEX, AS IT IS A VERY STRONG ANTIBIOTIC AND WILL WORK TO BRING THE BOIL DOWN, ALTHOUGH IT DOES TAKE ABOUT A WEEK FOR IT TO GO AWAY. "DO NOT" PUT ANY TYPE OF POWDER ON IT, AS THAT JUST CLOGS THE SKIN AND MAKES THE PROBLEM WORSE. MAKE SURE THE AREA STAYS CLEAN AND DRY. AVOID TIGHT JEANS, STOCKING, ETC. HOPE EVERYONE FEELS BETTER SOON.

"NEVER" USE ANY KIND OF POWDER, AS IT BLOCKS/CLOGS THE SKIN AND WILL MAKE THE PROBLEM ALOT WORSE..
I got my first one when i was 15. the doctor froze it then drained it, i was glad it was gone/ but it wasnt have had them basically NON stop and am now 28....=( they hurt, like now i have a HUGE one right on my Vagina not the insides, but right outside of it, ouch! get em in the butt crack sometimes but mainly get em in my inner thighs, they get huge and they hurt, i thought it was from wearing underwear,so havent worn any for YEARS, at first dr said it was caused by clogged sweat glands. ok so how do i INCLOG them suckers???!!!?!?!?!?!??!
i also have had them for about 10 years im 20yo, only started getting them in the thigh area since ive put on weight... i now have huge scars sooooooooooooo embarresing, i will try all of the things like i have before although how can i get rid of the scars????????? i have an open cut looking thing on the inside of my leg its scarey can you die from this?
I have the same problem and i freaked out one time so of course i decided to make an appointment with my gyno to check it out. Of course i shave and she let me know that sometimes the irritating bumps are from shaving and like the big red ones are like really irritated hair folicles. They recomended two things stop shaving or try waxing. They let me know that there is two types of waxing and the best one is the hard wax. So waxing would be better because no bumps, last longer and your hairs grow out finer.
I disagree with the "no powder" approach. I have had boils in the groin area since the age of 13-14, I am 26 now. I have never found anything work as well as Gold Bond Medicated powder. If I wanted to go to the Dr every time one of these little suckers popped up, I would have been to the Dr once a month. I just don't have the time for that, and eventually the antibiotics will quit being effective. I'm going to stick with what works....Good luck to all of you, I know all to well how painful these things can be.
it is so nice knowing im not alone...ive been getting these boils every since i started my period. Its has been a bummer everytime, because when im ovulating i get the really big ones and when im not i get these really small ones that look like chicken pox times 10 or something. I went to the doctor many times about this but the only thing they keep telling me is to loose the weight. But being me over weightness runs in my family. I am 19 yrs old and almost 250lbs, which in my family is normal, however when i try to loose the weight nothing really happens...i dropped like 60 pounds coming to college and i still get these darn boils. And dont get me started on scars. i have spots all on the inner thigh, and it is now just black...my fiance says it looks like i had the measles down there. that hurts when its coming from someone who has to be in that area for your enjoyment....so if you guys can recommend me some more ideas, that would be great!
I'm 19 and I've had this problem since as far back as I can remember. I get them in my inner thigh, buttocks, the back of my legs and even sometimes on my stomach! But when I was younger they wernt as bad they were just little red bumps like little pimples. As I got older to my early teens they started to get bigger and spreaded. They would get really big, really painful, and would'nt have pus they would bleed out. they would also leaves scars like black spots, and of course thats embarssing when it comes to sex, However, I wouldnt get them often. During my pregnancy and even after I had my daughter it started to get worse! and I have no idea what they are and like someone else; I thought it was an std but no. I think it is hereditary because my dad gets them too but mine have gone way to far! I'm to the point that I dont even feel comfortable do anything with my husband. I dont know what to do. I need some home remedies or somthing until my insurance kicks in. This is driving me nuts!!!
these boils all sound like signs of stapholochocus(sp?) I got one in the crease of my arm, then one in my armpit, one on my knee, to which all had the puss then blook and got really red and swollen, now this one to the right of my vagina opening. I think staph never leaves your body. Either that or the government needs to stop messing with the gene pool and do something better for it.
My wife has had a terrible time with these things for years, and I came across this forum doing some research to try and help her. She had the exact same symptoms as all of the posters here, and over the years she's tried just about everything. Tons of antibiotics, cleansing products like Hibiclense, even Acutane because the doctors never seemed to know what caused it and we were desperate. The worst of course was when she had to get them lanced when they got to painful.
My wife's sister has also had the exact same problem, and she had an even worse case. But she recently moved and went in to have a particularly bad one taken care of, and the doctor happened to be a woman who diagnosed her right away, she said if was a form of staph infection in her skin. Apparently it's quite resistant to antibiotics and most doctors just don't know what it is or how to treat it correctly.
She prescribed my wife's sister Bactroban, and her (we call them owie's) started to go down within the first 24 hours. She immediately called my wife and now she's been on the same treatment for four days now and the result is incredible. All of her problem areas have gone down and she's not having any pain. For the first time in two years she's actually healing!
Her sister already finished up with the week long treatment and actually started her cycle (when it's always the worst, flareups and such), and she's had no reoccurance so far!
It's really been like a miracle thus far, after so many years of what seemed like torture. It could be seriously depressing at times and I know what it's like, so I thought I'd share what looks like it might be a cure for at least some of you.
Remember, Bactroban. You just use a Q-tip to put a little dab in your nose, under your fingernails, and on your problem site twice a day for 5-7 days.
I hope this helps, and good luck!

I feel so much better I've gotten theses boils on my buttocks and unner thigh since my period started. I think it's a hormone and nerve thing because when my nerves are high and my period is coming that is the only time I get them.
what happens after it drains though? does it leave a big scar and does it take ages to heal? i had one and it hurt so much too, that walking and sitting was a nightmare. it drained by itself after i applied some hot compresses, but it's still a bit painful and swollen. will it drain again by itself or does the pus and blood come out once and that's it? I'm so worried that there will be this big ugly bumpy scar down there...
I'm so glad that I'm not alone, I'm 20 years old now and I started getting these when I started my period 9-10 years ago, and because I have severe anxiety issued they would only increase. When I was 16 I had to start taking anti-psychotics and gained a LOT of weight as a side effect, I think at my peak I was 298 pounds and I'm 5'10". I was so confused at the weight gain because I did nothing different other than start taking the medications, so I started exercising then they just got worse (instead of the once every 6 months or so I'd get them 2-3 times a month.) I would get them on my inner thighs, under my arms every once in a while (not around the lymph nodes, just under where the hair grows) and on the inner part of my buttocks and a few outside, and some under my breasts. I shave my pit and lower legs, but not my pubic hair so that wouldn't be the problem. I've since lost about 60 pounds and they've significantly gone down, but I still have the scars and probably will have them forever. I've been worried about any future partners because I'm a virgin and of course with my high anxiety self I've been convinced that I will die a virgin because of these, but it's so relieving to know that other people here have had boyfriends/fiancees/husbands. Thank you, everybody! I will try everything I've learned from this topic.
