Hi:
I recently received 2nd degree burns to 3 of my fingers from Non Acetone Nail polish remover. It took the skin off 1/2 down my fingers. I ended up having to use an antibiotic cream for 1 month and keep them wrapped up. The skin has now grown back but the nerve endings aren't healed up yet. The dr. said it is a slow process. I think this is unacceptable and there should be warning labels as well as expiry dates. I have brought this to the attention of the company but they insist it was an adverse reaction to me, even though my daughter received smaller burns on her fingers.
*Panty-liners* (pads)
-DO NOT remove the plastic backing
(the part that will make it become sticky)
-HOLD ONTO THE PLASTIC side
put NAIL POLISH REMOVER ON THE PAD side
-JUST 1 DAB OF POLISH PER NAIL, if possible,
(instead of soaking the entire pad right away)
THIS HELPS to MINIMIZE the chance of TOUCHING it at all
-MOVE TO A NEW PLACE on the pad for the NEXT NAIL
to INCREASE EFFECTIVNESS and PREVENT the color
getting back ON TO YOUR SKIN.
*My sister taught me this, (Thanks Michelle!! :)
*Im here because my finger tips feel tight and smooth on 3 fingers, i cant grip a piece of paper. little tingley and very annoying, but not fightening. i amTHANKFUL that it is not worse, and DEEPLY SORRY to hear how bad it can get. i can only imagine the psycological toll that must take on the afflicted, as well. i would be very sad, SCARED and withdrawln.
I hope you all get well very soon.
-----------------------TO ANYONE who feels EVEN A SMALL SENSATION
after contact with nailpolish remover,i think its safe to say;
SLATHER ON LOTION RIGHT AWAYand COVER YOUR HAND with a PLASTIC GROCERY BAG
to CREATE A MOISTER GLOVE, wear only for a few hours or so A DAY
DO NOT wear it all day, (THAT'S GOTTA BE BAD) let it breathe, too.
RUB LOTION into your hands for the REST OF THE DAY, too.
I think this would be good RISK MANAGEMENT in general, for anyone.
It is, what i am doing right now.
It may help if your lotion is hypoallergenic, perfume-free, LANOLIN-FREE
I dont know enough to tell anyone, what's-what.
But i feel confident that moisture is what is needed,
and to NEVER let ANYKIND OF NAIL POLISH REMOVER EVER touch you AGAIN.
:))))STAY UP, pretty ladies!
I have the same issue. I removed stubborn nail polish with cutex acetone free remover. Two days later the tips of my fingers started to bubble and the skin just peeled off. I went to the Dr. and they said it was a severe chemical burn. It has been 3 weeks now, and my fingers are peeling for the 3rd time! My thumb and 1st finger are numb to the touch, and it is very painful. The bottle should have a warning on it, and an expiration date in my opinion. I had NO idea it could do this!
What was the brand? The same happened to me and it was non acetone cutex brand.
similar to my problem i have told to rub and soke in lavender ecentisl oils but i bought some chilblane oit from boots that helped but you need to put it on either then cotton gloves i do it at bed time as it gets ichier and hotter at that time hope that helps
I'm just now going thru this. Fingertips are like sandpaper, and it's spreading. How did u file them when they hurt to touch anything? I can't even be near heat because of the pain. I used a generic Cutex brand too, and soaked my acrylics for 40 minutes. I'm stupid, I know, but they were turning my nails green and I panicked. Now I can't touch anything.
