Before I even start this message I know it's going to be a little on the confusing side. I'm seeking advice from anyone who might of recently had or who are going to have a abortion.

I found out a week today that I was 2-3 weeks pregnant and after a very serious talk with my partner of 5 years, we have realised that now isn't the right time to have a family together. I spoke to my GP on Friday last week who said she would speak to the Health Clinic and they would contact me to arrange an appointment to go and visit them.

True to her word, she has done this and they called me yesterday, but they are unable to see me until next Wednesday! Mean while, I'm now in a state of panic as the longer I leave it the more complicated it could become? Also I realise that they will say I'm more far gone as it is worked out from the date of your last period so I'm currenly 5 weeks according to the doctors (or will be when the finally see me)!

What is going to happen when i get there though? Apparently I have two options... tablet (???) or operation (???). What do these intail? I'm under the impression that if I choose the tablet form then I will have to go to hospital and take it infront of a doctor, then return a few days later for another tablet!???

I'm rather frustrated as it's all a waiting game and the only person i can speak to about this is my partner. He's just as confused as me, and I just need someone to talk to or someone who has been through the same thing.

Again, sorry for a very confusing/rambling message but if anyone out there would be kind enough to reply it would make me feel so much better.

Thank you,

Orchard
It sounds to me like you have a lot of anxiety, and that's very understandable right now. For either option that you will engage in (and I think at this point, it may not be a tablet but a minor operation) I know that they will go over the entire procedure to put you at ease so you will know what to expect. I know that when you go in next, they will not have you do anything. It will just be a consultation. So don't worry about entertaining any options yet.

As a man, I do not have any experience getting an abortion, obviously, but your post was really anxious so I felt compelled to at least reassure you. Things will definitely work out for you, so put your mind at ease. Keep us posted on your progress.

I had an abortion about a week before you posted your message. I looked into the pill and into suction. I picked to go with the surgical route. They gave me a shot of something like Valium. I really don't remember it too much. Good luck on what you decide to do. I was 7 wks along when I had it done... they say that you should be around 6-7 wks to have it done. I have read that the pill really takes a toll on your body and is really painful. After mine was done all I had to take was some Tylenol.

I'm glad to hear that the procedure went well for you and I'm also glad that you posted a bit about your experiences so that others who are considering an abortion can learn about how it is done. I'm glad to hear that you are doing much better than when you posted your thread, so you're doing okay now. Thanks for coming back to post!
