Have any of you gotten answers to why your calcium remained high after surgery? I am in the same situation
Ann…Seems that there an ''ectopic'' bad gland. My surgeon thinks it's inside the Thyroid. Hopefully he's right. I am having an FNA (biopsy) next month and that should confirm his diagnosis. Not thrilled about this, but it's been a very long journey and I'm so ready to get this behind me. Sorry to hear that your calcium has remained high, as well. What are you doing about it?
I'm not sure yet. I have an appointment with endocrinologist on Thursday
Ann…I hope your persistent high calcium has been resolved. I am happy to report that Dr Yeh was totally right about my having an intra-thyroidal adenoma. All went well. I am feeling so much better now. He had to remove the right thyroid lobe, but basically I am grateful to have found him.
Hi I had 3 parathyriod surgery. Still have high PTH. Hoarse voice, no energy, have anyone had parathyriod surgery 3 times with no changes. Thank you please reply
I have had 3 surgeries and still have high calcium and high pth. It looks like I have an ectopic gland as well.
2nd parathyroidectomy 10/21/15...pth 36 post op as opposed to 85 preop.Serum calcium preop this time 10.7,postoperative @ 2 wk check-up still 10.4.Follow up with endo on Wed. I am annoyed and get no answers either. After last surgery numbers were never right ,especially the pth.
Had 2nd surgery 6 wks ago...2 wk check serum calcium is 10.4...pre-op 10.7. After first surgery alcium fluctuated and pth never stabalized....endo follow up this wk.He never has any info or solutions.Dr.Google is my source, then I inform him. Still not feeling great...want answers, but I have a great surgeon that does Dr Normans technique and is an ENT thoracic surgeon...he is my go to.Gives me all pathology reports, etc. Perplexed.
6 wks after 2nd surgery.bone pain a tad better, but calcium is still 10.4.surgeon took me off the calcium and vit d3 to see if that was the cause.See endo on Wed.He truly knows nothing about pth...My numbers never stabalized the 3 yrs. Between Surgeries. So do not rush into a 2nd.I read that if the tumor is taken out in pieces it can drop cells that implant elsewhere..perplexed as well.
I was finally cured at NPC. I had robotic surgery to remove a chest adenoma. It was my 4th parathyroid surgery.

It is most likely a failed surgery. I highly recommend and urge you to contact the Norman Parathyroid Center in Tampa Florida. I had 3 failed surgeries elsewhere. NPC cured me.
same problem however my calcium is higher now than before the first surgery. Now 11.8. So MD said that's unusual and is going to perform another surgery to remove remaining parathyroid glands. I am disturbed and frightened regarding the second and more sever surgery. That might not even solve the problem.
Please go to the Norman parathyroid Center in Tampa. You do not want 3 failed surgeries and voice damage like me. Sometimes these tumors are in strange places like mine was. It really requires an expert.
had surgery 7/25/16 (3 mo. ago), PTH is 39 (in range), have pain in kidney, bones, tired, what is up with this stuff. what do I do next?????
