I have this problem for years and have tried various pharmaceutical products and have visited dermatologists who prescribed me an antibiotic in cream does not work, for anything my dermatologist seems not show a lot of interest in my case only he say humm, is not much I who step off when I have to visit the barber to cut my hair. but lately I started to work out more and eat more vegetables and drink several glasses of water a day with the hope that my case getting better and I've found that if it has improved much is difficult to maintain that lifestyle with all the things I have to to work way too and occasionally not get enough sleep and when I think I get it right Aug dominates the food with high fat pizza burgers etc and start to notice a few days that my problem starts againI think if the feeding and exercise play a big role in our physical appearance so I'll keep trying until you get the results you desire .. friends do not give upI almost forgot to recommend this shampo its main ingredient is Salicylic acid 3% and the name is Dermarest can be found on walgrens is shampoo and conditioner and I ami works in conjunction with everything else hopefully you too .. take care of yourselves and do not give up and is good to know we're not the only ones who go through this situation ..

I also have this problem. I am 37 years old, I have medium-length hair, and it began about two years ago...out of nowhere! I don't dye my hair, I don't use product at all, and I use organic shampoo which works awesome. It used to be a constant problem until I found the organic shampoo and now it just comes in outbreaks. It hurts so bad that when I get my hair wet under the shower it stings! I think they all have a core and they won't go away until you get rid of the core. They're not like normal zits...they hurt!
I'm wondering if it's staph. My daughter is colonized with MRSA and, when she was younger, had several trips to the hospital because of it. I remember her getting pimples all over her skin from it. It seems to be just on my scalp though. I remember one day the back of my head was bleeding and I looked in the mirror and there was a dime-size area with no skin! I was so freaked out. I mixed up some EVCO and turmeric and applied it to the spot and it was much better the next day.
Anyway, the only thing I have found works with the outbreaks is Neutrogena T-Sal shampoo. You have to follow the directions or it won't work. If you do follow them, you begin to feel a difference within a day. It is wonderful! I tried every natural remedy and product I could get my hands on...even prescription shampoos. Nothing works like this. It is like Proactive for your head. ;)

Black Salve seems to get rid of cystic infections or "tumors" or undesired bad cell growth. The process looks very nasty but If you have bad cells growing in your body this would be the way to eliminate them without surgery. I saw a guy that put it straight on a mole and it completely took it off from the root and left a big hole on his face for a couple of weeks and then it cleared up. He also used it on his chin and it does make ALL the bad stuff come out. Its pretty amazing Im thinking of buying a jar and putting it on some of my cystic acne I have that comes back in the same spot. if not you can try Hemp Oil not hemp seed oil the real ganja oil. that stuff is amazing and it cures a lot of stuff including many forms of cancers.

I struggled with acne off and on until sophomore year of college. It is then I started using benzoyl peroxide 10% wash, and the results were amazing. I continue to use it. Not sure if I still need it... But too afraid to stop because I used to break when I stopped for days at a time.

I had a similar issue. About 3 months ago I started cutting my hair real short and the small acne like bumps started popping up. They got progressively worse. I read on this site where others had the same problem and someone recommended Bumpstop 2. I stopped at Walgreens, but you can also buy it at Walmart. This stuff works. I apply it in the morning and evening (washing the area first). It's a cream that leaves a funny feel to my hair, but only in the area I applied it, but not noticable to anyone but me. But after 2 days, the bumps have receded and almost completely cleared up.
I recommend it and for only $4, it's kind of a no-brainer.

It sounds like a few of you guys may have Seborrheic dermatitis. The reason I know, is because I have it and have to treat it as well. The thing is, there is no cure for this disease, but it is treatable.
If you do a little research on seborrheic dermatitis, you'll find the right things you need. Selsun Blue, the medicated version, is good for it too, but there are many products you can research into and find out what you need and what works for you.
Many commented on using antibiotics. The thing with dermatitis is that it is a fungal infection that attacks your oil producing glands, not bacterial. Reason probably some of the anti-bacterial products you were using didn't have any effect.
Also, with seborrheic dermatitis, you will notice that these things are really like pimples per say, but big deep red blemishes that appear on the back and sides of your head. They are painful to the touch and seem to just not want to go away.
Look into shampoos and products that have coal tar in them, like MD 271 (I think thats the number) and products designed to attack fungal type issues. A good ingredient to look for in these products is salicyclic acid, as this is a fungus killing agent. I too am in the military and have to wear my hear short, so when I do have my outbreaks, it does suck and is quite an ego killer, because it is very visible and very noticeable. Red, deep, big blemishes that appear to be like huge zits on the back and sides of your head.
You're all net people, because you're in a forum, so just look up seborrheic dermatits and it may help you out.

I know many people who do not drink alcohol and have the same problem. I do not think beer has anything to do with this.
