Just wanted to post to this site. I too had a total hysterectomy 4 weeks ago, I am 38 years old and have lost 20 pounds since the surgery, I am eating 3 meals a day, but have noticed that my body is shrinking. I was producing to much estrogen that caused me to have endometrial cancer stage 1. Thank god I had this procedure and my DOCTORS are the best. They found this after dealing with heavy bleeding, etc for the past 3 years and numerous other doctors telling me I was just a heavy bleeder and dysfunctional. None of them performed any of the biopsies that my Current Doctors did. What an amazing team I had and I have to praise that they cared for me they are two amazing M.D. who I will never foreget in this life time. They both saved my life.
I too was worried reading all the websites about menopause, etc. It has been 4 weeks and I have shown now signs of menopause. I was told that since they took out my ovaries, uterus, cervix , tubes etc. That this would be an induced surgery menopause taking effect immediately. I have never felt better and am so happy, I only wished I had known sooner and would not have had to suffer the past 3 years. I do not have children, that was the hard part but my husband and I both decided that there are enought unwanted childre in the United States that need a good home and we believe this will be our new journey in life.
If you are afraid, really you should not be because everyone is different and do not listen to everyone telling you that you are going to feel like this or like that because remember everyone is different.
I believe if you go in with a positive attitude, the results will come out positive as well.
Just believe in yourself.
Also I had an assisted robotic hysterectomy. Amazing technology !!!! I have 5 incisions in my stomach that are smaller than a dime and they are healing, no stitches were used only glue.

I just wanted to add my 2 positve cents too! I had a hysterectomy at 36 at first I was devestated about not having more children! BUT after I recovered it felt like I had a weight taken off my shoulders and my groin!!! It was SO BAD before and such a relief after! They left my ovaries - as there is cancer in my family and that I was also too young! But Since I have talked about 5 of my girlfriends into having one - due to there problems! I hope you continue not needing hormones - my mom had a total and she didn't need hormones either!! So good luck and health to us both!!!
