Hi guys. A 15 days ago I had this Ross procedure. I am feeling generally fine but I am still in pain. And really, I want this pain to stop because I want to came back to my work. I am a fashion designer and I have really huge fashion show and fashion fair for one month. I want to be prepared. But it seems to me that this day will never come because I am recovering for 15 days now. Can you tell me more about post op treatment and follow - up after the Ross procedure? Thank you!

Hello dear Guest. Look, there is no much to say about this because thanks God that this is not that complicated at all. Generally, standard postoperative cardiac management is administered. Patients can generally be weaned from ventilatory support in the early postoperative period, the exception is a neonate who was critically ill before surgery. After the surgery, if you are without any bigger complications, than you will recover fast. When I say fast, I mean that you will recover after one months, maybe couple days after one month, but you will recover. I wish you all the best in your treatment. Get better.

Hey there. I am so glad that I finally have some answer in here. I already started to lose my hope, but now I am fine. I am fine just because of your comments, but that is OK as well. I don't know than what is going on with me, my pain just won't go away and I really start to believe that I won't recover that quick. When I went to see my doctor, he told me that my operation was really hard and that this is the main reason why I am not recovery as fast as I wanted to recover. I don't know is he telling me the true and I am planing to seek for another opinion. What is your advice?

Greetings friends.

Here is what is the most important thing that you need to know. about this. Generally, the Ross Procedure is often very effective for treating damaged aortic valves. The aortic valve handles all the blood being pumped back out to the body. The patients who have pulmonary valve that is similarly shaped and can usually be “swapped out” with the damaged aortic valve.  Even after the pulmonary valve is moved into the aortic valve position, it can continue to grow normally in a child who is not fully grown, and can handle the high volume of blood flow from the lower pumping chamber out to the body. There is generally not a need for long-term medication but you can treat it very successfully with – guess what; wellness :) Good luck
