You can go to a pain management specialist, i thought i was the only one with these symptoms, 35 radiation and full right neck dissection. Its our nerves different pain, im testing out meds right now, but its still sore, Nothing is helping and same thick mucus, i drink coffee and it comes out of my nose. Its gross. At least i know its normal, sucks but what the heck. Take care and God bless
CHANGE DOCTORS, I SAW MY ONCOLOGIST ONCE IN THREE YEARS, HE SUCKED, MY SURGEON WAS MY DOC, HE LISTENED TO ME AND EVERYTHING I ASK HE TRIES.
Ask your doctor to recommend someone
Actually I don't think this aftermath pain will go away, so we prob just have to accept it and try to keep our heads up in this pain, nothing works, really and the doc does make me feel embarrassed to ask for more pain meds. It really hurts bad, well jyust keep working on the pain I guess. Thank God so far no more cancer, but after radiation, 3 months, they found more in my lymph nodes and did my full neck dissection, Lord be with us
Oh yes all was fine about a year later then all of a sudden massive pain again my surgeon sent me to the pain management and thats taking forever, i lost another ten pounds and havent eaten a meal in over a month and i try. Waiting to see dr this week again, they suck with this pain mgmt. I know of the pain its so depressing. Good Luck July 7, 2014, cancer found in 2010
U gad the same thing a number of years ago. It is always a bit stiff and a bit sore, but lawd yeps you if you get a sore throat. It is early miserable.
I am watching my husband struggle with severe pain and Norco does nothing. He feels he is worse now then before treatment. It ended 3 months ago and he is getting nothing in the way of answers from his doctors. Each says to talk to the other. He has all but given up and has said as much. I no longer know what to tell him. He was a truck drive and so cannot work because no part time work is available, obviously. He sits or lies around the house with a hot washcloth on that side of his head. Is not eating enough because chewing makes it worse. I read your entries and, as nice as it is to know that he is not alone, I am so sorry that you have to endure the kind of pain he does. If one time, a doctor gives you an idea or medication that seems to work, please pass it on. I don't know what else to do for him.
I am suffering the same symptons and the pain is untolerable and constant. The Specialists are giving me different medications and pain relief but nothing helps at all and seems to be getting worse. How are they trating your symptons ??? - Would be great too hear what they are doing to you too help .....Thank you - Keith
My husband just underwent a biopsy to see if the lump in his throat is still cancer or what else it might be. The ent is not sure but says it does not "seem" to be cancer but just a large amount of scar tissue. We will not know for sure until next week; however, the pain continues. Before he had left the surgery center they had finally given him morphine after trying other drugs. The ENT's office was going to send him to pain management, but I guess our insurance would not cover them. Between insurance and pain, is this really considered a cure? There must be something out there. He hopes to go back to driving his truck and feels he would be giving up to sell it and decide on something else. Just like he goes round in pain and fear, I seem to be doing the same. Sorry. I will keep all posted about the patch and pain levels.
My radiation finished approx 7 months ago or less - then the last 4 months ive been experiencing terrbile pain on side of mouth back of throat and one damn earache which is now preet constant - worse when i try to eat (still can only manage soft veges etc no meat at all - even if the meat is cooked in a slow cooker for 6 or 7 hours still difficult to swallow so i leave meat alone - fish is not so bad) been on so many nerve tablets and still nothing works :(:(
I totally understand what your husband is going through...I finished chemo & Radio in june 2014.....ive been on a number of nerve pain tablets + the Oxy for pain relief...nothing seems to work and if it does its only for a hour or so...must admit this after pain is worse than the start of this illness especially the c onstant pain swallowing most things but the worse of all is the constant earache (I could cry most of the time) ive been and had more mri scans petscans theatre to take more biopcies and now waiting too hear what they will suggest next.....
