Hi my name is taiesha i had my LEEP pocedure done yesterday march 20, 2013 and as years have progressed so has technology. I notice alot of the post are old so i'll bing you guys up to speed.  In the past they would remove a large portion of your cervix however they realize that taking a large portion only causes more complications post op. with that said they now remove a small portion of your cervix that way the complications are lesser. NOw this is not the same case for every woman. For woman like me with no children

Cont. for a woman like me with no children at the age of 25 they only suggest it if its necessary. THE PROCEDURE ITSELF WAS A NOT PAINFUL JUST FELT WEIRD NOT UNCOMFORTABLE BUT WEIRD. PROCESS DOES NOT TAKE LONG AT ALL. AND YOU FEEL NO PAIN AFTER A FEW HOURS JUST CRAMPING AS F YOU WERE ON YOUR PERIOD BUT ITS NOT SO BAD. IM HOPING FOR A GREAT OUTCOME WISH ME LUCK

I had a LEEP procedure in 1994.  It took 15 years to get pregnant after which was an ectopic that ruptured at 12weeks gestation after the surgery 4months later I got pregnant again with a second ectopic.

Dying of cancer instead of taking the slight increased risk of preterm delivery is probably not the wisest choice. Your orphaned baby will miss you.

Omg this is absolutely terrifying. I had the LEEP procedure done september 12th 2013 and bleed until the middle november. I made 3 visits to my obgyn in the mean time and she assured me it had nothing to do with the procedure; it was just my period. December came... no period. January 12th 2014 I finally get my 1st "for sure" period but now I've had it for 3 weeks! and we want to have another baby. We just had a baby boy November of 2012 and we have a now 4 year old daughter. So we've been having unprotected sex since my obgyn gave us the green light; just about 4 months but to no prevail. Now im scared I either may need costly fertility treatments or will keep miscarriaging. This is awful. I am so sorry for all of your loses :(

I had a leep surgery about 3 months ago, I have a son that just turned 1 a week ago and now I am pregnant again with my second child. I am wondering if an abortion will mess up my body since I just got the leep procedure done a couple of months ago? if anyone knows please respond.

So if you didn't have your leep there was a chance to would get cancer, correct? You should not be on here telling people not to have a leep who want kids when if you don't have a leep you could get very sick and potentially die and then you will NEVER have the chance to have kids. Women....you take care of you first. And what is meant to be will be.

Hey all,
Thanks to everyone sharing their stories. I had to have a LEEP back in 2010 and I was just informed that my doctor would like to do another one after another colposcopy and biopsies. However the results, as I'm told, are minor dysplasia- CIN1, but because the precancerous cells are located in my cervical canal and not just at the opening they say a leep is best. I know all the risks from my previous LEEP, but I'm concerned about having a second procedure because of those risks being at a higher rate the more times I have this done. I want children in the future (I am 28) and I don't want to ruin the chances of that, but I don't know what my options are. If I should opt to wait and have another biopsy in 6 months or go for the LEEP. Seems like doctors always just jump for the procedures but I'm just not sure this time. Thanks for any advice, I appreciate it.

Some say things clear enough on their own just like our bodies are meant to do, so after being encouraged to have a LEEP and having issues from it, I would not want anyone to go through the same issues. Check your own cervix first. A lot of the pictures put out there of cervix issues are normal either rough intercourse possibly or after a doctor smears gross looking gunk over the cervix and makes it look like there is something horrible going on when in fact, that was the intention. Do a lot of research about your own body and see just how amazing we humans and animals are!

Scare tactics just like they use to get parents to genitally mutilate their sons after birth aka circumcise their normal fused at borth heslthy intact genitals (rip back the fused to the glans (tip) foreskin and knife rape their genitals with a scalpel to slice off healthy, protective, later on sexually functioning tissue from their penis. Forced retraction and permanent removal of extremely sensitive genital tissue is a human rights issue. Intact America, The Whole Network & The Bloodstained Men & Their Friends have a lot of information on intact care, devop kent, harm/damage caused by forced genital reduction surgery and more. Please educate yourself on female genital mutilation as well. Blessings!
