Wow 9 pages worth....I thought I was the only one. I've recently had that "pressure" in my left upper rib cage, no idea what it could be. I freaked out, I actually caused myself to hyperventilate, had to go to the doc and bag breathe.. I'm a 33 yr old male, bp 120/80 about 6'0" 180, exercise 6x a week (cardio included). I was so afraid it was my heart, had an EKG done and everything was normal, doc listened to my heart and breathing, had blood tests done, I was very low on vitamin D but that's it. A lot of it can be related to anxiety also I think. I had a couple episodes in the span of a month where I didn't eat for about seven hours on a Disneyland trip and I felt extremely weak, about two weeks later I worked out had a small meal and detailed my car, then from the time I took a shower going to the restaurant the same feeling came over me; that's what started it all. My doctor said I might be hypoglycemic, we didn't run the test as he described it in the process of drinking sugar water and not eating for three hours is really tough on the body just to diagnose. So that possibility mixed with me thinking something was wrong with my heart really affected my day-to-day confidence in my health. Now that some time has passed and I know my heart isn't an issue, I'm slowly getting better but I can still feel the pressure. It's nice to read and I'm not the only one, if it's gas or something like that I'm totally able to handle it. A few years ago I was also feeling pressure and my doc said it could be a hiatal hernia so it could be a reoccurrence of that as well, But I don't recall a few years ago the pressure I feel being this noticeable. Either way it comes and goes and as long as I know it's not my heart I can pretty much deal with it, though it is kind of annoying and I wish it would go away. My chiropractor also noted that it could be inflamed rib cartilage or a rib injury I may have unknowingly caused exercising. For what it's worth, I just had a dinner of spinach, eggs, deli turkey, onions, asparagus, and some turkey sausage, with quite a bit of salsa and the pressure came immediately after I was done eating. It's not painful, I don't think I have heartburn, but it sounds about like what other people are feeling, could be gas pressure or haitial hernia? Best wishes to all and thanks for all the comments, reading these helps the confidence that my body is okay.

Just came from the ER .... Feeling of a balloon under my lower left ribs, after I eat the balloon feels like it's trying to blow up (a very annoying pressure!) - I had this uncomfortable feeling for over 3 weeks now --- ER doc came to the conclusion (after CT scan, an X-ray, and full blood work) that it could be any of the following: IBD/IBS, Hiatal Hernia, Ulcers, and most importantly Chrons Disease or Diverticulitis ........ He said "it is certainly not nothing" and recommends a trip to the gastroentologist for both an Endoscopy and a Colonoscopy to rule out some serious health concerns - which left untreated, can lead to some serious diseases and health issues.
Hope this helps y'all .... good luck everyone

I have this too. Not painful but discomfort with soMEthing pressed against the left lower rib cage. Two doctors tried feeling for anything abnormal but found nothing. It usually feels worse after eating  - I guess it is the stomach (by just sudying body organ diagrams) bloated and pushing against  the rib.

Nice to see the reports by various people. At least it is not a life threatening thing  - so I will live with it.

Pls keep us informed on your further investigation. Thanks.

If I were you I would go have a quick check up to have the doctor rule out some possible conditions. In a lot of cases, it could be splenomegaly, an enlargement of the spleen due to various infections, etc.

I've been feeling this a while and recently felt a mass pike through the upper side right under my rib. I put pressure on it and it went away but still felt it inside. I got diagnosed with a spigelian hernia. I have to follow up with a gastro specialist. Not saying that is what you all have but in my instance it is and I have had all of the symptoms listed.

Hi I've been feeling that for two weeks now but sometimes it feels lower and sometimes on the side like a stitch when you run but not that bad. My dr says my fat pushes up on my ribs when I sit. I asked about hernia and was told you can't get one there. I'm now scheduled for ct scan and if nothing is found colonoscopy with endoscop. It's not painful just bothersome and worrisome. Only when I sit usually. How did they diagnose you?

I had the same symptoms plus extreme pain in lower stomach- went to ER - after all the tests blood work, ultra sound, xray and ct scan - the ER dr said it is Diverticulitis - very painful. Just had a second ct scan tonight. |Having the endoscopy and colonoscopy next week.

I have been experiencing the exact same symptoms for about 3 months now. No injuries. One day I was eating and I felt a strange sensation under my left ribs toward the middle of the upper abdomen. It feels like a balloon. Seems to be worse while I'm eating and or sitting. I lean to the right side and try stretching to see if I can make this sensation go away, but nothing works. It comes and goes, but is getting more frequent. I'm worried, I keep thinking aortic aneyuersom or enlarged spleen or liver.
