Hi folks - I began having the "under the rib cage pain"  five months ago.  I went through every test imaginable - X rays, CT's, MRI's, colonoscopy, tests for parasites, etc.  Finally the doctors felt an exploratory laparoscopy was in order.  I went through that 4 weeks ago.  They found adhesions (from prior abdominal surgeries), a small hernia in my diaphragm, and a benign cyst on my liver.  These things were all taken care of.  And guess what...I still have the rib cage pain.  So, I'm guessing at this point that I will just have to live with it and take tylenol and alleve for the discomfort.  Just for the record, I am 63 years old and very active - I ride horses and waterski.  I could probably lose about 10 lbs, but other than that, I am totally healthy - not on any meds whatsoever.  Hoping that maybe if I make a concentrated effort and lose a few pounds, I will feel less of the "pressure" feeling in my torso.

I am having all these same issues and Feel sort of relieved its not just me.  I  feel like something is pressing under my rib cage on the left side and sometimes it does feel painful  like a sudden spasm    mostly its just an annoying dull pain.  I have gone to so many drs   My primary Dr  sent me  to a urologist  and   then they sent me to a cardiologist so I had many tests  and still no answer. The best news is   that its not my Heart  which I was worried it  might be. The sonogram showed  some uterine cysts so now I have an appointment with an OBGYN.  I don't  think that is causing  this weird symptom but Im willing  to go another round. I want  to feel normal  and I have  to push myself  to get  this  done. I feel like my Dr.  and all the others are not  taking me seriously  and  they are throwing pain killers  and steroids at me   which Im not  taking   Thank you very much!  I don't want bandaids I would like a real Diagnosis!!!  Good  luck to everyone  and if anyone has some answers  please post!!

Thanks for the information and link to splenic flexure syndrome. I, like everyone else, have been having similar symptoms. I have yet to go to the doctor. Looking at a diagram of the human body, the colon does a turn just under the left rib cage, so I can see how that area could cause problems for people.

Me too! Me too! This feeling under the bottom of my left rib cage truly feels like a baby's foot - for those that have been pregnant. I had this a few years ago. It went away. Its now back. As so has the gas and the breathlessness that I've been associating with anxiety. And I can't figure out if I'm really stressed again or if a bit of binge eating has brought this on (it was my 36th birthday last week and I may have overdone it a bit with the cake and mini eggs). Do I really deal with anxiety (I do tend to be stressed) or are these symptoms related to my digestion. I'm posting in solidarity with all of you, it's good to see others with the same issue. I thought I'd google it because of course the first thing to come into my head was a tumour. But I'd really rather not head to the doctor again for a non treatable issue. It gets embarrassing after a while going in and being told I'm fine. And now I sound like a hypochondriac.

I suspect it is just gas. or I'm a little bunged up - even though things are still moving. Its a frustrating thing that so many people experience this and other things that I seem to deal with like the breathlessness, and no one can tell us what's going on.

I recently had my ovaries removed due to cysts/abscess and infection. Now I have pressure and tingling under my left rib cage that goes to my left shoulder blade. It's not painful just uncomfortable and annoying. I too am a child of someone that was exposed to agent orange. I have Dr appointment so I will share these posts to show the Dr I'm not imagining this.

I have just begun to feel pressure within the last week n a half. I do think it's gas or some bowl issue (I don't get to use the restroom often at work ), so this may be the cause. I feel better after I relieve the pressure by burping. My problem is not painful just very annoying, just like a baby stretching in your tummy ( I hav three kids). I'm goin to take ultimate flora capsules to help me to be "regular ".

so for a couple months i had this pressure pain in my upper lelt rib cage area almost directly under my left breast... and it would get worse after i ate... didnt know if i was having a anxiety attack even thought it was a hart attack when it was so bad.... but about 2 months ago i took a full body cleanse and colon cleaner and cleaned out my whole intestinal system and i havnt got the pain since then.. so what i guess its just stuck gas or too much fat i was eating and it blocked up my intestines.. dont know if this helps just wanted to share my experience.

I have similar symptom. Fatty tissue under the left rib cage. My doc said it was fat. I'm fairly slim, but need to exercise and watch what I eat, because when I over indulge it becomes uncomfortable with swelling, pain and irritation. I have my doctor check on it every 6 months to make certain it's not becoming something serious. With exercise and a better diet it's manageable.

I have these same symptoms and have for about 2 months now. I feel like there is a golf ball sitting under my left rib cage. Sometimes it is barely there and sometimes it feels huge. I have had two CT-Scans and a ton of bloodwork fone. Went for an endoscope yesterday, no results yet. I have acid reflux and have only recently gotten it under control, once this happened. I have also had a lot of nausea, running a 99.8 temp pretty consistently and just dont feel right. Head feels hazy most of the time. I used to go to sleep at 11-12 every night, now Im finding myself in bed at 9:30. SERIOUS anxiety going on as well because I can't seem to get an answer!!!

I cant believe it. I get the same feelings, ive had them for well over a year now. Ive described it to my doctor as a pressure feeling in left lower ribcage (the same sort of feeling as when i had my babies and they pushed a foot out!) Sometimes it almost feels asthough i need to push whatever it is back in again, but when its at its worst my lower rib cage feels bruised. It deffinately feels worse when sitting (especially when leaning forward or to one side on the sofa). I also get a buzzing sensation in the same area intermittently & when i have got trapped wind it collects in the same area making me feel bloated & uncomfortable. I have had a colonoscopy (although this was incomplete as it was too painfull for them to continue into my small intestine) & stool samples about a year ago & a barium enema but up to now no answer. I have now been refered to a cheast specialist who has refered me for a CT scan. I just wanna know what it is so i can move forward with my life & stop worrying about it.

Has anyone in this topic been to a/their Chiro? I've had this in the last 2 months....left side, which I coincidently sleep on/ and lean to when sitting in couch, have also been out of work and less active...was told a rib was out of place due to posture/sleep.( makes sense as I was a bartender/fairly active/put on quite a bit of weight/familiar with back& neck adjustments due to occupation). Lack of exercise, etc... Was adjusted and felt better for 2 weeks...it's slowly creeping back
