PROACTIVE ALERGIC REACTION!

I am thinking the same thing is happening to me. It's weird though, i've used proactiv religiously everyday twice a day for almost two years now. Last night i awoke to my face BURNING and itching. I didn't do anything, i tried to sleep through it. I woke up this morning and the itching was gone. I don't have any breakouts , but my face is swollen. I'm just so confused! Why am i only reacting to it now? :(

My wife is here with the same problem.  What a pain.  It's interesting there is not a link to this topic on their packaging.  $75.00 and now this.  Thanks Proactiv.

 

 

So I just started using ProActive three days ago and I had the red irritation the second day and then today I had the tight skin puffy eyes redness and rough bumps all over my face i could feel them as I ran my finger down my cheek. I am sending it all back and I will not be using it again, however, the fact remains that I still have these bumps and itchiness has started since I have gotten home. I just need to know how to soothe the irritation and get rid of the bumps and go back to my natural skin. I just had black heads and every once in a great while a few break outs and my Noxema didn't seem to be working but I wish I would have never used this c**p. I told the lady over the phone that I had extremely sensitive skin yet she only wanted to sell me moisturizers claiming it would work wonders on my skin... Yeah its a wonder alright... someone please help me I just want my flawed beautiful skin back. I feel like a reptile :(

Same here! Used on one zit and it ate the spot on my face away!! it was burned!!very dry and all scabbed now. Thank goodness I only had one and not anymore, My whole face would have been burnt!!!

I have similar stories to many of you. I started to use Proactiv last week, and by the third day I noticed that after I rinsed off my face from step 1..my eyes started to really burn. Then I noticed slight swelling, so I went online and googled eye swelling from Proactiv and low and behold, there were hundreds of same stories of eye swelling. Mine wasn't bad, but I read what I should do to prevent worse swelling. I iced it for a little bit then took Benadryl. I did not have any itching or rashes. 

The next morning, my eyes were very puffy and swelled worse. It didn't make sense because I never once put the Proactiv solution on my eyelids, but just rinsing it off did enough damage. The product is very strong and I already had sensitive skin. 

Now, it's debatable if it really did work for me skin. I want to say my forehead and chin area started to see less acne, but I only used it for 3 days before I had this allergic reaction. In short, I do not feel comfortable continuing to use a product that makes my eyes this irritated. It doesn't seem natural and would rather have slight acne then to go through this misery again with Proactiv!!

I used it ONCE. I used Step 1 and Step 3, last Thursday.  Friday I was fine.  Saturday afternoon, my face had sudenly become blistered, red, hot and painful.  Today is Thursday (one week later).  The swelling is gone, the pain has lessened greatly, but I'm still red and bumpy, and very itchy.  I have been using Dove soap only, and not even moisturizer, because I am afraid of aggravating the condition.  I missed Monday adn Tuesday of work, so not only did I pay for the Proactive, I lost 16 hours of my pay.  To hell with Proactive.  DON'T USE IT !!

I've only been using proactive for two days and i woke up this morning with a rash of little red itchy bumps all over my cheeks and forhead. I put a hypoallergenic cream on my face and the redness went down a little but its still pretty bad.

I used proactive, and after the third step, the finishing lotion--my eyes are all puffy and benadryl isnt helping.

same story....gosh...... my acne has been a pain for me for the last 2 years. nothing helps. nothing at all. i tried everything. i went to my doctor many times and with no improvement. i had all the hormones tested couple of times - everything is perfect. there should be no reason for my acne and still it's there. so i decided to try proactiv. i tried it twice - in the morning and at night. waking up next morning - face all red, swollen, puffy and itchy. great..... now becoming great friends with ice and zyrtek. thanks, proactiv. 

i recently got proactiv solution online was all excited to start using it .. the first timei used it was ok but i woke up the next morning my face was swollen , red, itchy and very dry,, burning,,, i had cool cloth on my face and discontinued using it .. but cpl days later like 4-5 day later my skin on my face started to peel off.. was painful.. i only used the product once and have used it again,, im stickin with OXY not as harsh on my skin and my acne isnt all that bad to begin with ..

Your problem is genuine.This is a happened with many people. First of all don't use different types of skin products in your skin.Most of the cream products having chemicals which adversely affects your body.You can prefer from doctor or specialists.I used to hear about yllume products which is legally prescribed from the doctors also.Most of the people have got good results from that yllume products.

not sure if this is because of proactive....I used it for the first time yesterday, and now half of my lower lip is swollen as sh*t! and it looks ridiculous! there is no itchiness or redness anywhere its just my lip is swelling and it hasn't happened until I used proactive.

Hi there, I've experienced the same symptoms as most of you have mentioned on this forum. I'm wondering if anyone's skin condition has actually improved since you've posted? This just happened to me yesterday and I'm freaking out!! I'm afraid it's going to stay like this forever!

The reason you are having this reaction is most likely do to a chemical used in the Proactive products "sulfa". I had a very severe reaction after using these products and was almost hospitalized due to the horrible amount of facial swelling and peeling I had after waking up one morning. I had been using the products for several weeks at night before bed and did not realize that the reaction was slowly building up over time. If you had a reaction to ProActive there is a good chance that other antibiotics prescribed by your doctor may eventually cause a huge problem for you since several of them contain this chemical. Make sure your doctor knows that you are allergic to SULFA, not Sulfer because they are two different chemicals that sometimes get confused.
