Drink alot of milk and water.
if your using proactiv, dont use anything else because it makes a chemical reaction and it ends up making your face turn red.
if your face is red there are 2 ways to reduce the redness that i know of.
Get ice and put it on the top inside of your mouth. keep repeating this. do about 10 ice cubes.
another way to reduce redness it to get a white towel and soak it up in milk.
Yea i know it sounds crazy but just do it.
Put the towel on your face and keep it there for about 30 minutes.
the coldness of the milk and the proteins will start bringing down the redness and i guess it works for bumps too, im not sure tho.
once you take off the towel off your face. let your face dry. dont wash your face. let the milk do its magic.
You'll start feeling your skin feeling good.
after about 1 or 2 hours wash it off with cold water and your face will be smooth and less red (:

I am SO glad I came across this thread.
I've use Proactiv on and off for many many years with no problems other than a little dryness and itching for the first few days.
I don't make a lot of money so sometimes I'll go months without using it and buy a kit when I can afford it.
Today I was SO excited. My mom had bought me the 60-day kit as a gift. I used all three steps as soon as I got home. Felt the usually dryness and slight tiching that I get when I don't use Benzoyl Peroxide for a while, but nothing irritating.
Fast forward several hours to tonight at work; Out of ABSOLUTELY NOWHERE, my eyes started getting tight like something had just sucked all the moisture out of that area. Within 15 minutes they started to swell up, looking as if I had been crying the night before, and within an hour I started panicking about the sudden and rapid onset.
I left work early and the swelling continued to get worse. I look like I went ten rounds with Rocky and the area on either side of my mouth is numb and raised.
I was so worried it could be something serious I even got dressed for the emergency room (at 5am), but after reading this thread I am POSITIVE it was a reaction to the Proactiv. I had doubted it because it took several hours for the swelling to start, but there are too many stories on here almost identical to mine.
Thanks for saving me a trip to the emergency room and a possible steroid prescription! Proactiv. The Devil's Cleanser.

this has been awful for me, i used proactiv twice, once in the morning and then once that night. i've never used the product before but was excited to start using it as soon as it came. also i didnt have servere acne at all, just little flesh colored bumps that i wanted to get rid of. the next morning after i used proactiv my eyes were swollen and my face was red and ichy, i thought that after a few days this would go away, but after 4 days my face was still swollen and ichy. soi went to the dermatoligist and he gave me a cortisone shot, i can already feel the swelling going down . he told me that by tomorrow night everything should be back to normal.....i really hope so. this has been a nightmare.
