Day 1, I got all four of my teeth pulled out this passed Friday May 18th,. I was quite nervous before getting them done, I rarely ate anything that day. When getting the surgery I took it quite easy, my dental doctor kept encouraging me with jokes. All I felt was the tugging because the Novocaine worked very well, to make my mouth completely numb. My doctor gave me all the instructions on what to eat and drink, such as soup, jell-o, ice-cream, and salt water ect. He gave me mouth balls to compress down to my gums for my bleeding. I had my doctor call in my prescription for me at Walgreens so I didn't have to wait too long to take my medicine before the pain started kicking in. Although it's recommended not to drive home yourself after surgery, I drove myself home, with my younger sister who is 13 years old, right by my side to help me get through anything I had to get through. of course I wasn't put to sleep when getting my surgery. Luckily the doctor office and Walgreen isn't too far from my house, I couldn't speak to the pharmaceutical, so I had my sister speak for me when picking up my prescription. My face was completely swollen and my mouth was bleeding badly.  In my first hour I could feel the Novocaine slowly wearing off, and by my third hour the Novocaine was fully gone. I quickly took my pain medicine to relieve the pain. I drunk salt water which kind of help with the pain and swelling, I couldn't understand why the teeth that didn't have work done, such as my front bottom teeth hurt too. My mother explained to me it is because your nerves. Then it clearly made sense to me, I was in so much pain. My face was just a swollen mess. It felt  better for me to sit up, instead of laying down, It seemed when I laid down the pain was much worse. I sat up until the pain medicine kitted in, in then I slept like a baby. I woke up, and my sisters and mother took good care of me, and I'm so grateful for them, they fixed me ice packs so that I can rest the ice on my swollen face. Day 2 I was pretty much in the same boat, I was still swollen and the pain got better but worse at the same time., if that makes any sense. I had fever in my face. I consistently popped pain medicine every four hours as directed and my throat was still sore just like the first day. On day 2 I drunk lukewarm tea with lemons and honey. That really made my mouth feel better, I had soup, which was a reliever as well. Sleeping was quite hard to do, as I kept having to wake up to be sure that the ice pack was on my face, as I dealt with my pain. Here I am on Day 3. Sunday May 20th, still having fever in my face, and swelling, I threw up this morning I don't think the pain medicine and tea mixed so great this morning, hours later after I threw up I ate some applesauce and ice-cream, to help with the pain. Good thing I took work off from May 21st to the 28th with PTO to be able to relax and recovery somewhat properly. I work in a call center, and you can't work at all without talking, so I definitely needed time off to relax. I hope things come together really quick. I'm in so much pain, I would recommend that everyone get all four teeth pulled out at once, because it's definitely better to deal with this pain all at once. :) - Ineshia

WORST ADVICE EVER!!!!!!!

oatmeal, yogurt, Lentil Soup, thin sliced grapes, peanut butter and banana all mushed together really well with a fork (try cutting the banana into small slices first and then mash them). Mashed potatoes, super thin sliced deli ham or turkey (not really to chew, just tear small pieces with your hands and then just swallow. If you want to start practicing chewing a little bit then I guess you could eat slightly bigger pieces of the meat, but generally not full 'sandwhich' mode for a little while, bread is hard to deal with.) I tried to keep my food intake well balanced since the Norco knocks me off my butt too and makes me dizzy queesy. The food keeps me from feeling too 'motion sick' from the meds.

I had all 4 taken out On Sept 28th. I was IV sedated (and do this if you can afford it) and it was probably the best route to take since I heard other people stories where they say through the procedure with tears running down their face. I had them taken out for braces. Mind you, I am 31 years of age and two of my lower molar (each side) were impacted. All I can recall from the procedure is breathing through the oxygen mask and waking up daze and confused. I brought my brother along with me since you shouldn't drive yourself after being sedated. When i woke up my mouth is filled with gauze and i notice my cheeks were puffy. At first i thought it was swelling, but it was just from the stuff gauze. The pain was not that bad, but I felt groggy on the way back home. During your first day expect to sleep a lot and constantly being tended to. Your doctor should have an instruction for your driver on the post surgery instructions. First day pain consisted of a sore throat (from the tube they stuff down your throat). Second and Third day are the crucial days. This is where you will find out how bad your swelling will be (for me it wasn't noticeable but it look like i had a grape stuff inside my mouth). I didn't have any problems with dry socket because I didn't drink nor smoke during my antibiotic prescription period. Rinse your mouth with warm salt water (every time you eat anything). You might have a hard time opening your mouth wide (could be due to your stitches or "jaw lock syndrome"). My teeth were really sensitive and it was painful to even chew a pea with my two front teeth. It's been about 3 weeks now and 3 heal and closed up, but the one that was growing horizontally is slowly closing up. I don't encounter any pain at all, but food lodging itself in there is really likely, so try chewing more with your front teeth. Going to see the doctor on tuesday to see if this is normal with the recovery period.

Today is day 5 for me on my wisdom teeth recovery. Day one was the absolute worse as the Vicodin did nothing but make me an emotional wreck. I switched to ibuprofen and everything was good. I didn't start smoking until today. The left side was completely impacted and healing faster than the right which was partially erupted and had abscessed. I came back to work (I talk ALL day) by day three. No bleeding, don't mess with the white thingy that sits above your stitches it is not food if it doesn't rinse off with water. It's part of the blood clot.
Moral of the story; I followed my oral surgeons directions to the letter and I'm basically back on track. The pesky stitches are the most agitating thing, I want steak!!

I had one pesky wisdom tooth removed 5 days ago (it's the only one I ever got).  It was impacted and horizontal on the bottom of my jaw.  I still have sharp pain at times and constant discomfort.  I am 40 years old and swelled and bruised like crazy.  Maybe because I'm older or more sensitive I am having such a bad experience?  I've missed 3 days of work for this "simple" procedure.  Saw the oral surgeon yesterday, no infection, no dry socket, but man when he flushed the hole I went through the roof.  Everything looks fine and he's seeing me again in 2 more days for another recheck.  Had I known it would be this bad I would have kept the stupid tooth and taken my chances with the cavity it is forming on the tooth next door.

I had all four impacted wisdom teeth extracted two days ago. I was put under and didn't take too well to the meds - they make me mildly hallucinate. I am in extreme pain and look like I got hit in the face with a bat! I've done everything told to do and cannot ope my mouth wide enough to even get a spoon in to feed. It's been a battle to eat (I don't like ice cream or jello)...is this normal? I constantly cry in pain and am always dizzy :(

i have had my wisdom tooth removed on 13th Dec 2012,    ((the one on the right side of lower jaw))         its 17th of dec today and i'm still in much pain.............i ceased to take ibuprofen from 16th dec.................the problem is that my wounds have almost healed and the stitches are okay........the wound itself does not hurt..

what hurts is, i think is my jaw bone or bone somewhere near jaw.................i am unable to open my mouth wide open..............whenever i try to open my mouth it hurts like hell.............i have difficulty in eating/chewing

so i've taken appointment with my doctor for tomorrow, lets see what she has to say (not going to the dentist - not sure but it might be his fault)
