Wisdom tooth removal is horrible, at the age of 39 I have had my upper wisdom tooth removed on October 22nd this year and to be honest I have not recovered yet. (21st Dec today)

I had from 1 tooth removed, thats right just one, Sinus infection, suspected bone infection (lots and lots of tablets i was on) Dry socket with it and a hell of a lot of pain.

It's slowly recovering so i am told I have these mouthwash sprays that i have to use every hour and a half. some days its so sore even now. I have had it checked out this week I was told my jawline is readjusting and thats why I still have soreness/pain from the upper extraction down to my lower jaw gum with has a wsidom tooth underneath the gum growing in the wrong direction - I do wonder if i will need anotehr operation and teh extraction has just flared this one up.

What annoys me i was never told that it could take this long to recover, I have another check up in Jan as the dentist wants to make sure its healing okay

Hi there,

im currently on day 4 of having a single wisdom tooth pulled out. I had a cavity that I had neglected and decided to ignore it till the pain became unbearable, I book a dentist in for an extraction. I told the dentist that I had been to a dentist in such long time, anyway she had some new numbing gel and man that stuff was amazing that pain from the open cavity was gone in a matter of a minute. Then I got an injection to numb the area. And 5 mins later tooth was out. One of the roots were not formed correctly either which did not show on the X-ray. so that was a surprise to us both. To cut it short blended for a few hours after went through 3 pressure pads of biting down to cause the clot. The bleeding had stopped and was very very light blotches that would appear in my mouth. Whilst biting down on the pressure pad just used an ice pack on the face. But I was amazed there has not been any pain swelling since  the tooth came out. just been rinsing my mouth out with sea salt as often as I can its hard to do when I'm at work, but I get home and do it, overall outcome has been impressive. So fingers crossed that anyone who reads this will have the same expirences as myself.

just thought I would share my part with you all.

john

I haven't and hope to not get that because i just got my teeth extracted yesterday (02-07-13) and the pain right now from both teeth can't compare to the pain i had before the surgery, (a week of excruciating pain due to impacted teeth) i am bit afraid of how i can't swallow or it will hurt. Not even saliva.

4 of my wisdom teeth were taken out on 2/7/13 which was thursday. today is sunday and i just swished with the prescribed mouthwash and the syringe and one side hurts awful. I had decided to lower my painkiller intake cuz it hadnt been so bad since yesterday, but right now its trobbing and hurting so bad I had to take one. I have to go back to work tomorrow and I'm dreading how i will feel. I feel like crying like now it hurts so bad. I have follwowed directions to the letter, but work wont give me any more days and the medicine makes me go to sleet, what can I do?

You may have a dry socket or infection. I had my upper and lower right widsom teeth out on 6th January 2013. The top one was a straight forward pull out but a dry socket formed. My bottom one was horizontally impacted and had to be taken out in 3 pieces and stitched. This got infected. Almost unbearable pain developed on day 3 going down my neck, into my ear and forehead. I was in AGONY!!! Antibiotics and Ibruprofen/Co-codamol kept the pain to a just manageable level but the pain was strong for 2 and a half weeks. You will get there though. My top hole is fine now. Just the bottom one to heal over. It was like an abyss but now I can see the bottom and sides forming so almost there. No pain now although it occassionally feels fleshy and sensitive. Its taken 7 weeks to get to this point. Wisdom tooth removal should not be underestimated!

so all 4 of my wisdom teeth were impacted, plus being the lucky star I am I have a genetic condition where my some of my permanent teeth decided not to join the party and never showed up in three of my molars (2 on top 1 on bottom). Anyone else have this? Anyways so at 17 I still had 3 baby teeth left that had never been pushed down so they were stuck up in my gum, and the teeth next to them had sort of caved in around them as they grew making it impossible to brush them well and no dentist could get in to fill the cavities so they were basically just rotting out. Gross I know. My dentist finally reccomended an oral surgeon and 7 days ago I had all 7 teeth out, wisdom and molars. He sedated me (bless his heart) so the procedure was pain free. They gave me viccodin for pain but it made me really sick, so I stuck with ibuprophen and it worked like a charm. Really no bad pain after day 2. Swelling was awful I looked like a fat chipmunk until day 4. Now on day 7, some of my stitches have already dissolved, but my lower molar must've given them a fight because the site started hurting really bad. I don't think it's dry socket cause it's not THAT painful, but it's enough to wake me up in the night when ibprophen wears off. Does anyone know if that's normal for a regular molar extraction after this long? Also, I'm also getting this NASTY taste coming out of my lower W.T site... it makes me gag and want to throw up. I'm using the special mouthwash but it's not helping. I don't think there's food stuck cause there's really no hole, he just stitched it up. WHAT DO I DO?!? It's so flippen nasty I have to rinse my mouth out every 20 minutes, and don't even ask about when I wake up in the morning. I've resumed smoking after 7 days would that cause it?

I had two (top left very last two) pulled Thursday! And let me tell you I hate the dentist but had to go... He made me feel ok and reassured me that everything was fine.. Only took 30min.. Went home first day was ok I slept all day... Day two not so much had to call of work and was in so much pain... Apparently dentist are only open mon-thurs. I hurt so bad I went to the er... They looked at me like omg throes holes are huge asked if I had stitches I said no but he did have to cut them out... They said they don't look infected and I told them I had three Vicodin and it doesn't touch the pain so they gave me a shot of something that's 10x stronger than morphin... Boy it didn't like me came home piled twice but pain was gone... They also gave me Percocet instead of the Vicodin. Now day three and holy sh*t!!! My face is so swollen pain is ok but my check hurts so bad and is so swollen idk what happened??? I can't really open myopathy to eat... Idk what to do..

2 of my wisdom tooth were removed on Monday, and I still see a little bleeding and minimal pain in my jaw. Is that common?
