Do I have to try other methods first or can I go straight to the HoLEP (Laser)?
I just had my HoLEP done on Nov 4th 2021 at the Mayo clinic in Jacksonville FL by Dr. Dora. I'm at 3 1/2 weeks and doing great. I stopped bleeding at 2 1/2 weeks. I still have some pain at the start and burning at the end but it gets better each day. No heavy lifting for 4 weeks and no sex for 6 weeks.
This is a follow-up to my original post. It is has now been over 10 years since I had my HoLEP procedure. My personal physician tells me that my prostate has remained very small on palpation and I have not had any recurrent symptoms! While I have retrograde ejaculation, it has in no way interfered with my ability to have enjoyable orgasms.
Hello I am considering Holep. 57 years old. Was wondering the date you had your surgery and how you are doing now?

I'm a USAF Veteran, 78yrs old, have had BPH since I was 42. Took 20mg Tadalafil daily for 3 yrs, as other alpha blocker medications previously prescribed caused ED. 3 weeks ago I drip urinated for 4 days then couldn't, 'n the VA referred me to a local hospital where they put in a catheter, Been wearing it now for 3-weeks. My local Urologist wanted to do a biopsy as my PSA was 34, but I said I'd rather have a prostate MRI w/contrast, then if cancer was found, I'd submit to the biopsy and go from there. Went to St. Patrick's for the MRI, 'n it came back as negative for cancer, but prostate was 143grm. My Urologist scheduled a Cystoscopy next week to look up into the penis and bladder, but as he only does the TURP procedure, he referred me to Dr Simmons for the HoLEP procedure, and then the pathologist will look at the removed tissue for any cancer, so a biopsy is unnecessary. So I'm happy you posted your resume.
Hi Mike how are you doing today? I am still before making a decision which procedure to choose having a benign but XL prostate
