I've had the redness and itching around my eyes. The best thing that worked for me was manuka honey cream. ( can be ordered online through Vitamin World) I kept lathering it on until it finally disappeared. Then I started using Loreal revitalift anti wrinkle and firming cream just under my eyes. Because once the redness and itching disappeared I was left with horrible wrinkles under my eyes, Which I never had before. I went to a local prominent Dermatologist for the red scaly rash around my eyes, who prescribed a $200.00 small tube of medicine which did not work. Before I started using the manuka honey cream I threw out all my makeup and
creams and then stated the manuka honey cream. Hope this helps someone. I was desperate and wouldn't go out because I looked and felt horrible.

I just had my Cymbalta bumped up and the eye rash started also. I am allergic to everything also. Have you tried going back to a lower dose of Cymbalta?

My son has a similar condition. He is 16 and he has allergies and atopic dermatitis since birth. He always had dry skin and redness inside elbows and behind knees however in the last few years he has these red rashes around his eyes and in the forehead from time to time. We have seen quite a lot of dermatologists over the years and no one was able to offer cures but only temporary solutions like using moisturizers (it is important that the moisturizer is developed especially for atopic skin, others make it worse), hydrocortisortisone creams and if the inflammation is really bad cortisone pills. We have noticed that if he eats home prepared healthy food and stays away from too cold or too hot weather the rashes diminish considerably. Also eating lots of cucumbers help. From our observations, we know that coffee and all kinds of packaged foods and especially foods with soy sauce and msg cause rashes around his eye area. So I would recommend detoxifying your body by eating only healthy food, especially green vegetables and drinking plenty of water. This shows results as short as three days in my son's case, but the hard part is you have keep it up. It is also important to have an allergy test so that you know if you are allergic to any foods or preservatives. I hope this helps.

I've had a very similar thing going on. Red itchy rash around my eyes and nose for months. It may be some type of herpes or skin virus idk. I dont like steroid creams or anything that is ultimately harmful for my body, but I've found that a combination of ginger and tumeric supplement pills, plus all natural whole leaf aloe skin gel (feels like a cooling agent) and cardio excersize keeps it cleared up. That's just what worked for me. Thought ide share, maybe it will help you too:)

Wow, other people that have the same problem! I have been having this rash occur for nearly 2-3 years. It started as 1-2 then 3-4 times a year, but now it is very frequent and I have to take time off work. Initially I would get extremely puffy eyes, I could hardly open them, but now it is just very, very red. I have been to a dermatologist who covered my back in patch tests and a biopsy on my eyelid, nothing came back. I have been prescribed prednisone (steroid) to reduce inflammation. I have since been to a naturopath as feel it is my last resort. They did the hair test and dairy/butter/tomatoes and perfumes came back as very high so have to avoid all for at least 3 months. I find if I go and have a nap the redness settles but when I get up again it flares up. Perhaps the bloodflow to the eyes? I went to Health 2000 once and they did a test which said I have limited blood flow around eye area - maybe they were right. What is frustrating too is that the doctor, pharmacist, dermatologist and naturopath have not seen this before but by reading these posts it is out there. I wish we could post pictures to see if what we have is in common.

I had this several times and both times the cause was my contact lens solution. I switched solutions and the rash went away.

Were you ever checked for shingles?

BHT (butylated-hydroxytoluene) is why I have struggled with this for 8 months. It's in most cleaners as a disinfectant, and in cosmetics and food as a preservative. After seeing two optimologist, my OBGYN for hormone issues, and a dermatologist, I finally went to a hollistic doctor to do allergy testing. Bloodwork showed extremely high sensitivity to BHT. This may not be the cause for others, but anyone can develope an allergy to anything they are overexposed to.
Also, bacterial imbalances in the gut can cause yeast overgrowth (systemically) which causes eczema. It's leaky guy that allows foods to poison the blood stream and causes the rash. The eyes have the softest most transparent tissue so it often shows up there first. Eat raw garlic to kill bad bacteria. Take probiotics to replenish the good, and drink tons of water. Cut out sugar because it feeds the yeast.  Good luck. It's hard to get rid of.

My brother in law had this. Dr. Took him off all steroids. Got really bad them went away. I get a rash around my mouth and eyes that is actually caused by topical steroids. The usual treatment for that rash is months of oral antibiotics. I got mine to go away using tea tree oil. Bleach also seemed to have an effect. Obviously, you must be very careful around the eyes though. Good luck
