Hello everybody,
I’ll get straight to it, I am 17 years old and have shaved for a few years now, I usually shave in the morning everyday as I always feel rough special if I don’t. I don’t know when my problem started but I know my family members have told me for a few weeks know that sometimes they notice redness and other times they don’t.
I feel when I shave it doesn’t hurt nor burn so that throws those out of the picture, Wednesday I believe was the day I shaved using a sensitive razor ‘Wilkinson sword extreme comfort plus sensitive’ and yet I still notice a bit of read could it possibly be I am using the wrong foam? Today however I shaved once in the morning and noticed a bit again very light red not much, I then shave again tonight just to see if it had something to do with the foam and yes this time round I didn’t have no redness apart from my neck.
I want to also add the redness tends to go away after a couple of hours and I generally want to know what I can do or try. I was thinking about testing maybe taking pictures of my sideburns (where the redness shows) and try different ways shaving against shaving with no foam with shaving with foam but this would take many days.
Hope I can get some advice, sorry for the long post
Thanks
Hello. Thanks for your post. Yes, it is likely that you are having an allergic reaction to the foam. Have you used that shaving cream brand for some time (the same kind) or have you recently changed it up a bit? Either way, it seems like you are reacting to it. Your skin sensitivity changes over time and that's why it is good to change your cream when you notice these flare-ups. Try something a bit more natural or soothing for awhile and see if that helps. If the symptoms go away then you have figured it out, just an allergic reaction. If the symptoms persist, you may check with your doctor and see what they say. Are you experiencing any bumps along with the redness, or just the red color?

Just the redness really, what other foam could I use?

You could try a gel instead of a foam. There are plenty of different brands out there.

Make sure you wash your face with warm water when you're finished shaving too. Don't just wipe it and go.

The other issue could be how sharp the razor is? I've found that when the razor starts getting dull it causes more irritation than a new one.

Keep us posted.

Hi:
This also sounds painful. Have you thought about shaving every other day or less? You mentioned feeling rough, but you should probably give your skin a break... If it is an allergy to a shaving cream, etc., you can narrow those possibilities down to an answer. It seems a though giving your skin a break until you figure things out might be a good idea. Also, if it worries you enough, try seeing a dermatologist. I know that having hair on your face, if you don't like it might be a little annoying or weird to you, but it would be temporary relief for you. I hope you get answers soon.

Try something with aloe or a cream for sensitive skin. There are also shaving creams that are hypoallergenic. Another reason could be a dull blade. Have you tried an electric razor? You could give that a go and just use water. Keep us posted and we hope you find a solution. Good luck SaveMeJeebus!
