So here it is , I have went to the hospital for horrible pain, a stabbing feeling from my IUD, and this is on top for a horrible cold to where I can hardly
Breath , so while in the ER my pain was a 7 going in and by the time I left if was at a 12 it was worse , They gave me no pain meds but asked if I needed them , I broke down and said yes I do , I was at the point of tears , they never came back with any , I waited forever for a sonogram to find out what the problem was , to put it simply the string from the IUD migrated causing a bacterial infection, and the IUD slightly shifted but was still within the proper safety measurements, according to the nurse practitioner, so after legs in stirrups and and internal sonogram and an external sonogram , they said no hospital will remove an IUD in the ER no matter how much pain your in , it's not policy , but it is causing the bacterial infection from the string migrating and the piece shifting slightly, but you be ok it's within the limits .. And it is causing your hair loss, your migraines , your hot and cold chills your pelvic pain , and possibly you might be going through the change , they said that might be why you are having mood swings and sleeping a lot , but here's a script for antibiotics, hope you feel better soon , and make sure you keep take your over the counter stuff for your cold , so they did not even help with the horrible congestion, at least a z pac not at all , so I went in a 7 on the pain scale and came out a 12 , This is awful, as 3 alive just barely touches the pain , So #1 do not go to center point if your dieing , you'll likely kick the bucket, #2 If you are thinking of getting an IUD please please research it first ,
I asked questions before I got it but not the right ones , know what questions to ask , it very important you do , and if you have insurance make sure it covers putting it in as well as taking it out , otherwise you will have to pay out of pocket , so now that I will be getting antibiotics tomorrow, I will still need to have it taken out , so I will have to search high and low , ( I have been for about a year) to get it taken out its pricy and there are insurances that do not cove it being taken out .

So I have called and call 3 different hospitals tonight so far and they all say the same thing that it is not policy no matter how much pain your in to take it out ... So if you die from it , well what then???

So yes hospitals can refuse care , and center points excuse was we do not have the tools for it , all while in stirrups
And they are using those same tools to examine me (WTF) are you Kidding me , let me just say if I had been a woman in the ER having a miscarriage the would have gotten the tools out and done the DNC to take it out .... Don't have the tools my ass ...

Sorry it policy ? For what hospitals to refuse care now?

Anyway I'm home now ! At least I have the prescription for the bacterial infection from the string migrating,
What a nightmare this is. But I must find someone to remove my device or the antibiotics become no good ,
I'm like okay and agin tell why you cannot remove it.

So let me know what you guys think
God bless and good night.

Well guys i just removed my mirena literally 10 minutes ago and am i glad its finally out omg i feel great already i had such bad side effects it was unreal i put on over a stone within few months i was always moody feeling lazy and just sh*t also when i was having sex my partner could feel it which obviously made everything so uncomfortable so i done some research and alot of positive and negative comments but in the end i decided to be brave and just do it! I swear it was like nothing! Easier to pull out a mirena rather than a tampon, so basically i think if you are totally sick of it and you are comfortable just pull it out slowly i done it sitting on the toilet which was very easy make sure hands are fully clean and you just have to grab the strings and it just slips out SIMPLE

I just removed mine. Got it on Thursday, today is only Sunday and I already HATE IT. Could feel it in there , felt like I constantly had something in there. Got down on the floor, took a minute to grab a hold of the strings, pulled very gently and slowly and boom it was out. Slight cramping, but way less painful taking it out than it was getting it put in! Would never recommend mirena to anyone.

Whip it out ladies! I had mine for 3 months and couldn't get an appointment for removal anytime soon. I've had enough of the mostly daily spotting, but mainly the permanent tiredness and grumpiness. I'm lucky as I have long fingers and nails so just pulled the strings gently. I thought they had slipped through my nails but the IUD had slipped out so easily I didn't feel a thing, and insertion was agony as I haven't had children! feel so relieved to be rid of it now, and was easier than even a small tampon!

You kinda have to feel around in there. You are feeling for strings... My strings were tucked so I had to work them out then pull it out.

Mine was in for five years, eased it out while in a warm tub, no problem! Thing was clean as a whistle. Some cramping but nothing like when it was inserted. Was due to be changed but have no insurance and just thought to myself, "do it!". Did it, done, nothing Tylenol can't help with. All a doctor or nurse will do is use a speculum to see what they're doing (ouch!), grab the string and ease it out slowly. You know you're body better, do the same by touch but take it easy and slowly. Period pain on a really bad day and then that's it!

Same thing happened to me. Did it damage anything or cause you to become infertile?

It took me one drink and 2 minutes to pull that poison out of my body. My hair had started falling out ive gained 10 pounds in 6 months my periods last for 2 weeks (light spotting but still no thanks!!) and I itch like crazy for those two weeks!! I couldn't take another moment. I just started my period so that probably helped but it was so easy!! Thanks everyone else who shared. I agree with them though if you feel any pain stop and seek medical attention.

I just pulled my mirena coil out. I just sat on the toilet, found both strings and pulled very gently whilst coughing ( this apparently helps and it did for Me). It came out so quickly I couldn't believe it and no pain!
I had the coil put in about 7months ago because I've always suffered from heavy and extremely painful periods and although it helped with those issues, it gave me a whole host of new ones.
I have been gained over a stone in weight, weird bloating/heaviness in my lower abdomen /pelvis area, really low mood swings, no sex drive at all, bad skin, hair loss and just generally not feeling like myself. It's kind of hard to fully describe all the symptoms, but it's taken me all this time to fully realise ( and through reading lots of other people's experiences) that these symptoms are all down to the coil.

I'm delighted it's out!!

You need insurance to receive help at an ER. And an ER will not remove it. They will take an xray to see if it's positioned correctly, and if it is, they will give you pain meds and tell you to follow up with your primary doctor. If its not placed correctly it obviously is an emergency and they will remove it.

I bet it was probably just some uterus lining if you didn't continue bleeding or have severe pain. When I pulled mine out a little bloody something- probably uterus lining or thick thick mucus was on it. I'm was and am fine.

The doctor won't remove mine. I've been in 5 times and they tell me"everything looks fine there's no reason to remove it," but I want it out.
