Hi. I've been 'PeriMeno' since 37 & I TOTALLY agree with you on the crazy changes the body goes thru during this time. Your story sounds similar to what my GYN told me on this. She said my endo lining is thick & suggests a D&C....not sure of the actual difference from what you've had. I'm wondering if you don't mind sharing with me, what was the cost of the procedure you had done? I'm currently between jobs with no health insurance & wondering if I could possibly afford to pay cash for it. Thanks.
I'm 37 have three children and I've been having the exact same problem! It smells like rotting meat, not fish! I do believe that this is what is happening. The lining isn't fully detaching. So the question is, what can we do?
I totally agree
I'm 42 about to be 43. I started my period 2 days ago and i usually use tampons... Somehow since I missed a month, I figured it was because I'm perimenopausal...Pay attention, ladies!!!! This horrid, extremely nauseous odor came from my menstrual blood. Like a rotting rat or something dead. I have always been very clean,. I took a hot bath with some hydrogen peroxide end of story.. But no, still smelt like i was dying... Now i looked at all the comments and came up with this theory. I use tamps and many of us do. I just literally sat on the toilet and felt nothing at first, so I used my kegal muscles to kinda push down and voila!.. Finally pulled out an old tampon. I don't know how it could have been forgotten...But it was..... Ladies, before you go and take that expensive doctors visit, check to make sure its not a lodged tamp. Now I'm seriously considering still going to the doctors because just think if that tamp stayed up in there for over a month, infection or sepsis could be a reality. And for those ladies who say No, I know it's not a forgotten tamp, seriously, it proves it was.
Same problem don’t wear tampons. Wow.
Or you could use 2 ounces of water and put a couple drops of 100 percent tea tree oil on a tampon and insert, change it as you would if you had your period. Tea tree oil is a natural antibacterial. It has worked wonders for me. Good luck.
I experience same thing at the moment. I ve never had such terrible smell during my cycle. It's so embarrassing especially if it blots on clothes. My husband and I use condoms when ever we have sex. I am taking a decision to consult my physician.
Never ever ever ever ever EVER put hydrogen peroxide up there!!!!!!!! Hydrogen Peroxide kills ALL living cells, this means not only bacteria but the cells making up the delicate tissue of your vagina. It does not distinguish between bad cells and good cells that are trying to heal.

might be that i drink coffee for the first time in a while and my period started it smells horrible.
Great analogy. I would always say that it was "old blood" due to the darker dried up color.
I'm having this problem now at the age of 40. With hair loss as well. It's all symptoms of premenopausal. I've had blood work done to check my hormones and they want to place me on estrogen now. I have to stop smoking for 30 days before I can start the hormones. I now have Chantyx.
Also add Apple cider vinegar to that solution as well and follow up with a Oct yeast infection medication don't switch from tampons to pass only and also add a few drops of tea tree oil (organic) to your bath and soak for 30 minutes... U can also add the Apple cider vinegar to your bath as well it will help with the BV the odor and the symptoms as well cure nail fungus....
I definitely need to make a Dr appt for my daughter
She is only 17 and going though same situation of rotten smelly period and we ask why? Some months smell more than others and her period is regular except the smell.

After reading all the info on perimenopause and feeling like this was just part of it, I was convinced that that was it, until I read several women in another post that said it was a forgoten tampon, so I checked really good and found one up around my cervix, mine was a lodged tampon, so make sure that it's not, before you get an infection or something. Bad vaginal odor is not just normal, it means that there is a problem. Just make sure or just go to the gyn, but douching about three times with apple cider vinegar and water lying back like child birthing should dislodge it. I hope this helps someone.
